Date make-up 101

You’ve met, you’ve flirted – you may have even already kissed – and now you’ve scored the first date. Time to get glammed up to the max? Not so fast…
There’s something about a first date that has the potential to turn your average, natural-looking, happy-go-lucky girl into a semi-hysterical, way-too-made-up mess – and let me tell you ladies, the fellas no likey!
Sure, a bit of sex appeal will always be welcome, but go too OTT on the whole ‘seductress’ vibe and you could risk sending out the wrong kind of message. Plus, which guy wants to spend the next day being reminded of you on account of your make-up stains on his clothes? A whiff of your lingering fragrance, definitely yes – remnants of your too-thick foundation and bright red lipstick, I think not!
So cast aside your plans of sporting that plunging mini dress with a smoky eye and a fiery red lip, and go for something that leaves a little more to the imagination (and a little less on the collar of his shirt!).
Face
The ideal option here is to find a foundation that provides long-lasting, flawless coverage – without looking like it’s caked on to your complexion. Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Foundation is formulated with skin-balancing pigments to help the foundation adapt to your skin tone (imparting a more natural finish), and also contains light-reflecting properties, to give your face a healthy radiant glow. Team it with a light misting of Australis Make-Up Finishing Spritz and it’s sure to stay in place – even while you’re nuzzling his neck!
Eyes
Keep your eyes the focus of your face – they're the windows to your soul after all, so are bound to keep him intrigued! Your aim is to achieve pretty peepers, not ‘just-punched’ peepers, so start by carefully defining your eyes with an eyeliner that’s guaranteed not to run or smudge. We like Australis Stayput Eyeliner.
Next, using a multi-shadow palette (try Australis Paparazzi Perfect Eyeshadow palette – 'A-Lister Sister' is my fave colour combo), blend the darkest hue into your eyeliner to soften the line, before blending the lighter shades across your lid and up towards your brow bone. Finish by curling your lashes and applying a slick of mascara.
Lips
I’m going to go ahead and assume that, given you like this guy, you’ll be hoping for some lip-locking action, right? Then trust us, keep it simple – because the last thing your poor bloke will want is bright red lipstick smeared halfway across his face! Opt for an ultra-nourishing lip balm with a hint of colour to give your lips a subtle pop of pigment and that soft, kissable look. We love Australis Lip Butter in Coral Reef (a sheer coral), or Ringa Rosy (a light pink).
What's the best first date you've ever been on?

The date with my current bf. He gave me flowers and chocolates :). and took me out for lunch.. o fcourse he paid. He was really sweet, and could not stop saying how beautiful i was. He then dropped me home, and my family said that i was glowing. <3 I wore liquid eyeliner, bronzer, nude lips with plumper and a dress with an eyeshadow lid colour that complemented it.

I don't really do the whole date thing, haha, I think you would probably see more of that in the city life, but here in the sticks you normally just meet up at the pub, lol, there is not really anywhere else to go, haha :)

The best first date was the one I went on with my current partner, very sad, but I cant remember it. I just know it had to be the best, as he is the best partner I have ever had.

Best first date I had was with my ex. We split up on his terms before he realised what he was missing. He went to every effort to replicate our original first date for our second time around first date and it was magic :)

Best first date was with my now husband :) He came all the way from overseas to meet me and we stayed up all night just talking and looking at each other and not believing we're together. And yes, there was a bit of kissing too :P

My Best first Date was with my current Boyfriend, he done the whole bit he took me out to a lovely Restaraunt , gave me Flowers & Chocolates and continuously told me how Beautiful I looked. I didn't get real glammed up, I just made sure my make up wasn't over done , my hair was neat and my nails just right, I wore a Dress that was pretty (but Sexy), and Heels. I did make sure that I had everything right that I'd leave a lasting impression , Especially my Perfume. It worked we have been together 10 months now, He's just Great I Love Him.

The BEST first date should always be the first with your Current Partner. No bloke wants to hear about past partners as it hurts their ego. The make up sounds great and I have recently purchased quite a bit of Australis eye products. Good Tips.

my best first date was with my current bf, he asked me out for an ice cream and we walked all the way there. It was soooo simple, and casual, yet so romantic for me, because we had our first kiss too that night

Best first date with... current boyfriend, as seems to be the trend! I'd asked a random guy in a bookshop out one day two years ago and we'd texted a bit a few days later (obviously he'd said yes to the crazy girl in the bookstore!) and were planning to meet up. Then I was at the St Kilda fest that weekend and we just happened to bump into one another! We hung out at his friend's house, which was one of those ones along the beach that always have amazing parties during the festival, just talking and getting to know each other. After a few hours we headed off together, got a pizza, and went and ate it sitting on a blanket in a park under the stars, then ended up kissing rather soon on said blanket. :)
The best thing about the whole date was there was no time to prepare, or worry - it was all so spontaneous because we just bumped into each other!

My best first date was with my now husband. We been together for over ten years. On a side not men actually do prefer minimal makeup, they like the natural look and as my husband says he wants to see natural beauty and painted on beauty.

We didnt go out to eat, just a stroll through the park. However I will say our date to the theme park was the best. 6 years later we happy with our son :) (Oh and I must admit there was nothing natural about my makeup when we first met .. hehe but I was young and loved loved loved thick black liquad liner and the works. LOL)
