Beauty bites

Some people just have it: they have the bone structure, the make-up application prowess and the confidence to work it. Others, on the other hand, have bones but no structure, are just kind of awkward and need a little guidance when it comes to make-up magic - and that’s where a couple of quick tips up your sleeve from the professionals come in very handy
There are a myriad ways to work what Mother Nature has given you, you just need to know what those ways are…
Green eyed monster
Got green eyes? Don’t spend the rest of your days wishing they were blue. Take a tip from make-up artist Fiona Corrigan-Roberts and add a touch of princess to your peepers. Forget boring black and brown eye pencils, grab gold eyeliner as this works with green to really emphasise the colour. Magic.

Hair help
Need a speedy solution to greasy hair? According to hairdresser Brad Ngata, the answer is simple. Dust a little talc along your parting and work it into the scalp. This is an effortless, short-term solution to lank locks. Thanks Brad!
Having a drastic hair day or just too time-poor to spend an hour styling your tresses? Whatever the reason, everybody loves a trick that will see you create a fanciful hair do in less than five minutes. Start the stopwatch…
Tip head upside down, give it a shake and run your fingers through it. Flick head back upright and, using fingertips, apply some warmed (using palms of hands) hair wax to the end of your locks. Spritz the mid lengths of the hair with a little shine spray (I use L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni.art Crystal Gloss) and loosely pull the hair back and keep in place with a pretty ribbon or some hair clips. Simple eh?
Base-ic rules
I think it’s fair to say most of us conceal our blemishes first and then apply foundation but make-up artist Cassandra Rae Ferguson says reverse and reapply. She recommends applying concealer over foundation as this way the foundation will do most of the work for you - thus saving you time and product. We like her thinking.

What top tips (or beauty bites, as we like to call them) have rocked your world?

I like the idea of gold eyeliner but I have two different coloured eyes ... one greenie brown and one bluey grey! I have used the talc powder trick a couple of times when I was desperate and had greasey hair. My favourite tip is only apply mascara on the top lashes if you have smaller eyes this helps to open them up.

I was doing a friends make up for a wedding the other day, she has stunning green eye's, next time I do her make-up I'm going to use the gold eyeliner trick.

Wow I've always wanted green eyes! I think they're just amazing! I'm stuck with my blue/grey eyes though! Love the hair tip - might have to try that one next time I'm stuck for ideas! Oh and I've been doing the concealer over foundation thing for years - otherwise you end up blending the concealer under the foundation and it disappears! My tip when you're super tired/hungover and looking flat - mix a little illuminiser in with your foundation to give your face a lovely glow!

i wish i had green eyes! my plain brown ones are so dull, i like to use turquoise or green or blue eye liner to liven them up a bit - but with restraint! otherwise it's an ugly betty moment.

A make-up artist, once told me to put a little foundation over my lips to 'dull' them down (as they are naturally very pink) to make applying a nude ip colour more effective.

I've tried the hair tip before, but not with talc (my hair is dark brown, so thought it might look like dandruff) I used an unsweetened chocolate powder, it didn't feel great... I couldn't wait for the day to be over and be able to wash my hair, it smelt good though ;)

I have done the gold pencil trick on my green eyes and they make my eye colour pop. I also like to use green and purple colours to bring out the green in my eyes.

I have tried the talc powder in my brunette hair and if you don't use too much and kind of flick it into your hair it really works and you don't see any white - don't know how it would go for really dark hair though. Also I agree with foundation first and concealer second - but only if you are using liquid foundation (the liquid wipes off the concealer) - if using mineral foundation apply concealer first.

The trick to freeze your eyeliner pencil when it is becoming a bit rough, it works a treat! Also when applying foundation with fingers use downward feathered strokes.

Whiterabbit11 brown eyes are so not dull. I bet with some golds and browns - or even grey - they can look amazing. And Emj23qld, I know just what you mean about Joss Stone. Love her music!

i would love to have green eyes, i think they're gorgeous!!! i have hazel eyes though. i love the talc idea, definately going to try it! my best beauty bite is to put a bit of white shimmer eye powder in the inside corners of your eyes to open them up and make you look more awake

I don't really like the talcum powder, It takes me ages to get it all out. =S I wish I had green eyes, I have boring brown ones! My beauty tip is always using a touch of eyeline along the bottom of my eyes to make them look bigger and more dramatic.

Definetly going to get some gold eyeliner to make my greenies brighter ^^ My beauty bite- a very light eyeshadow (a whitey/creamy/goldy colour- very neutral colours) applied very lightly on your lids with a touch of mascara gives a very natural look, while making you look more awake, with brighter eyes.

Why, people who have green eyes would be loving them! they're unique and beautiful~..
ive been using tinted moisturizer then concealer, and sometimes you realise you didn't need the concealer in the first place!
