Discover a new steely summer look

“Dear beautyheaven, I am stumped! I’m stuck when it comes to a sumer-appropriate beauty look. All I wear each day are my plum lippies teamed with mauve blush – not exactly the best for a day in the sun. I haven’t found anything I like more – can you help?” Greta, VIC
Eek! This sounds like a cry for help! As much as we are big fans of a plum wine lip around here (and trust me, we are), it’s not all that appropriate for a day in the sun or the park. Plus there are other shades out there to have summer fun with after all.
For this member plea I made an emergency call to our good friend Nicola Burford (she’s pretty handy with a make-up brush, so no doubt she’d be able to battle this beauty dilemma!).
Burford had these tips for us:
“One of my favourite looks for summer is a tinted moisturiser, (try Face of Australia Tinted Moisturiser) worn with a soft coral-coloured cream blush, like MAC Blushcreme in Lilicent on the cheeks. Pop a stain of coral or poppy on the lips and lashings of thick mascara on curled eye lashes. Add a sweep of bronze or black eyeliner in the water line of the eye to take you through ‘til cocktails at sunset. (Try Maybelline NY Line Stylist in Bronze Gleam for a different-looking glam eye.)
Insider tip: “Using a primer under your base will minimise the need for blotting powder during the day; stopping your make-up from looking muddy and cakey with perspiration,” says Burford. (We love Estée Lauder Face Primer Plus Smoothing Matte Base to bits – and so will you!)

My IZ tinted moisturiser is simply the best, love it ;)
I also have a great bronze eyeliner, it looks great for a summer look. I personally prefer a light pink to a coral though but thats just me :)

I love coral coloured blush, but haven't yet mastered cream blush. Oh well, keep practicing!

Gosh, this guide to a dewy look sounds so good! : ) I would have loved to see a photo of someone wearing the suggested summer makeup, though. I also like to wear tinted moisturiser, coral blush and bronzer in summer. I'll add a soft pink glossy lip to this look and my new trusty waterproof mascara. : )

Peach, apricot and coral shades are perfect for the warmer weather as they give you a glow and if you get a bit sweaty or flushed from heat it still looks good.

Great tips!! I have recently started using primer under my foundation, and it works so well, keeping my foundation on all day! I also adore peach coloured blush, and have been using it for years! I think that it's a great colour for summer!

Tinted moisturiser is excellent for beach, bbq anything outdoors when you want to wear something but not look too dolled up so to speak.

I love tinted moisturiser in summer, I use the nivea one, not too thick or too much coverage, just a nice hint of colour & glow.
