These are all great swaps, a number of which I incorporated into my diet many years ago. I like something sweet after my lunch at work, so instead of something naughty, I enjoy a crisp apple cut up into very thin slices - I munch each juicy piece very slowly and it keeps me going all afternoon :-)

These are all great swapping ideas...Thanks BH!! I try to go for everything in moderation so as not to feel deprived which then leads to bingeing!!! I do quite a few of the ideas already like the coffee and baking my own fish/chips :)

I need to take notes for all these swaps as there are many foods i should be swapping for healthier options.

This is an excellently healthy article! Very inspiring and I think this is a real trick to use if serious about being healthy in general. So yes I do all the above except I don't drink wine or beer so I can cut that one out altogether and the choc bikkie one doesn't get into the house here either so I can also delete that one. I do like a slice of yummy cake occasionally, especially at birthdays, so that probably makes up for the wine, beer and choccy bikkies all put together!! Gotta have that treat!

Yes I would swap any of the swappers above I usually swap my snake lollies for an apple/mandarin.
Very interesting article.

Yum - I love raspberries! I probably eat too many sweet things but I've started eating more fruit instead, so at least that's a start.

Great suggestions.....sadly not much I can do, as I already prefer wine over beer, nuts over chips and fruit over lollies.....but as Rpear says, nothing replaces chocolate, although I do like the dark chocolate better.....do I get brownie points for that?

Good tips!
I eat really healthy anyway, my major guilty pleasure is champagne!
With winter kicking in I will be eating plenty of healthy soups (no creamy ones!)

Great ideas. I don't know about swapping the chips for unsalted nuts though. The saltiness of the chips is part of the appeal. I'd rather swap it for some nice cheese and crackers or maybe a small packet of chips. I'm hopeless around chips so I can't have just a small part of a big bag!

Indulgence= Breakfast Fry up ie Eggs, Bacon, Buttered Toast etc - Swap= Multigrain Toast, Avocado, Shaved silverside and poached egg. Saves a load of calories and a huge decrease in fat content! :)

Great suggestions. I love grapes and also almonds to snack on. I think the key is keeping the junky snacks out of the house so you're not tempted (although I'm as guilty as any of doing that sometimes!).

I'd probably swap all of them! I love being able to have my favourite snacks but still being healthy!

Those all sound like great alternatives! I like snaking on nuts and grapes, but I have found myself snagging the occasional chocolate, probably more than I should. (:

Diet drinks are potentially carcinogenic, but I do like a fizzy drink, so I have sprakling mineral water instead.

I always keep frozen raspberries in the fridge - if i"m feeling snacky and I can grab a handful and chomp away or for something a little more filling I'll throw them in the blender with heaps of ice and a little skim milk for a yummy smoothie
