Works far better than anything else!

Having tried creams and being devastated by the gross, clumpy and mess involved in trying to treat my infection, I would always freak out when I got a cold sore (mine are more severe than your common cold sore) and would struggle to leave the house.
Now having discovered the compeed night patches I'm of course saddened by an incoming cold sore but it hides it far better and allows me to feel confident enough to go out.
It heals it faster, reduces scabbing and it practically no mess. :)

I've tried everything

I've tried everything in the creams and then one day at the chemist I was given a free trial pack of compeed as I had a tragic growth on my lip, I gave it a go and have never turned back I love them, I use the night time ones even in the day as I find they work better and quicker... I give them a 10/10...

Good product

Background: my sister (in London) & I suffer from cold sores a lot. Mine seem to be brought on by too much sun exposure. She is superstitious & won't even say the "CS word" as she says they think you are 'calling them'. I recently wrote this (admittedly crappy) poem to her for future reference...
The secret of my sucCeSs.
Once upon a time
There was an Aussie chick
Who grew a large CS
On her lower lip
It started with a
Tingle on a Thursday night
She was in a dither
It was a terrible sight
By the next morn
It was the size of Mt Everest
Then a short yawn
Was the next big test
No split, no blood
Just a giant blister
With a treatment, no dud
Gots to tell her sister:
Daytime use Lucas’ Papaw lotion
Moisturises like a magic potion
At night a patch: Compeed
Is exactly what you need
You can enjoy your sleep
Knowing it won’t crack or weep
Its a great healer
& you can use a concealer
It won’t look like a cornflake
Everyday when you awake

no mess relief for cold sores

These are the best thing i have tried so far, suffering from cold sores since childhood. They are not a miracle but gosh they make things an awful lot easier. they are little sticky clear dots about 1cm in diameter you stick on the affected area.
They do feel a little bit uncomfortable, but so does having giant festy wounds on your face so, worth it.
things i love:
-complete barrier from the outside world - great for helping to heal and prevents contamination or spread
-cant be eaten off like creams
- hygienic and no messy fingers like creams
-almost (not quite) invisible
-relieves the hot tingly burning sensation, inflammation and swelling
-only have to apply a couple of times a day
-seems to reduce healing time
-no taste or smell
things i dont love:
-only works on certain parts of the mouth; creases and inner lips are out of luck
-sometimes sticks a bit too well and does damage when coming off
-tricky to get the wrapping undone and accurate coverage (need to have a few practice runs)
-a bit pricey - $17.99 at my chemist for a pack which lasts 1-2 coldsores

Overall I would recommend these patches. i have found they are a great relief for me and reduce coldsore moments from a confidence catastrophe to something i can actually deal with and leave the house without too much concern. Don't expect a magic wand solution, but for anyone who has suffered coldsores, they are definitely worth trying.

Meetings continued

Being a busy Mum and running a business really doesn't give you time to slow down and when a cold sore hits me its a sign that I need to relax a little. Instead when I have them I get more uptight when trying to hide them during meetings with a large growth on my lip. I came across Compeed at Priceline when I went to buy Zovirax and thought I'll give it a try, amazing! It actually aided in stopping the pain, itch, speeding up healing but most importantly in my job disguising it has a semi transparent color like skin and it adhered to the skin so well and contain the sore. My staff were not even aware I had one.
No embarrassing blisters, crusty skin or nasty red rash either as the Compeed completely disguises it whilst healing and actually lasts overnight and through the day. I've never reviewed a product before but this product was so amazing, it deserves 5 stars.

Worth it !

EASY! Just put it on before bedtime and it does the work for you overnight. I had a tricky cold sore near the corner of my mouth but I still got the patch on no problem. I used it two nights in a row and sped up the healing process dramatically, now I don't need to stress about getting them because I know there is an easy solution ! Thankyou COMPEED!

Carefree with Compeed!

WORST things ever!!! I hate getting Coldsores but the Compeed patches have been a life saver. It stops the Coldsores from going scabby, you don't need to put cream on it all day or constantly wash your hands and you don't have to worry that the cream is getting rubbed off when you eat or drink. So much more hygienic than cream. The only thing it loses points on is the price. They work out to be a LOT more expensive than the creams, which used to last me about 4-5 Coldsores ($11 tube), wear as the patches are significantly more and only last 2 Coldsores....

Wasn't for me

I received this product for Trial Team and oddly enough I didn't get a cold sore till recently. It's true that it's great for nights, in the sense that it won't wipe off onto your pillow, however I found it unpleasant to remove in the morning. The skin underneath would be moist and gooey and on many occasions I would remove part of the cab with the patch and my lips would bleed. I'm glad so many other people liked it, but maybe it just wasn't for me. I found it about as effective as the Zovirax cream I use.

Amazing!

I too had to wait for an ugly cold sore to appear so I could trial this product. So my apologies for the late review. I have never before in my life been so glad to get a cold sore just so I could trial these new patches! I love that I can use these as part of my night time routine and not wear it during the day. Even though they are practically invisible I loved the feeling of waking up fresh with my cold sore GONE! :D I was very happy! I liked how each patch is packaged individually so it made it very easy to use and to just store the rest away in the cute little plastic container so the others don't get lost and I know exactly where they are! I found that the patches are much faster working than any other cold sore cream I have ever used because of the patch there is no risk of the healing product getting rubbed off and there is no product wastage due to re-applying! I loved it! A really smart product idea with amazing results overnight! Totally recommended!

Plagued with cold sores? You MUST read this…

For over 40 years I’ve experienced these nasty outbreaks around my mouth and nose at the rate of roughly 2 per year. Sometimes the attacks are a bit milder, but in most instances, the sore is big, ugly, painful, lasts a fortnight, and invariably leaves an inflamed area, which then takes at least a month to fade. I’ve tried everything from creams to supplements, and even had repeated smallpox vaccinations to try and desensitize my body. I’ve come to the conclusion that if you’re prone to cold sores, nothing will stop them occurring, but these soothing Compeed patches will dramatically reduce their duration and after-effects. So far I’ve only tried the night patches, however my experience was impressive enough to confirm that both a night and day pack simply HAS to be in my bathroom cabinet at all times.

The plastic pack (for two treatment cycles) contains an easy to follow instruction sheet, helpful information about cold sores, and 12 hygienically sealed patches – they’re a bit like super sheer flesh-coloured round bandaids (without the gauze centre), and a little bigger than a 5 cent piece. Easily applied, the first thing that impressed me was that they cover and protect the affected area. Instantly I felt less contagious - not just around other people, but for myself too. I’ve always been scared that I might touch the lesion in my sleep, and then rub my eyes, but these patches have totally eliminated that nagging worry. There’s no concern about treatment creams rubbing off onto the bed linen either. Also when interacting with others, not one person even noticed I was wearing the patch. This is a HUGE bonus - normally they stare at my sore with a horrified look, and I feel like I have the plague.

As I only had the night patches, I applied them during the day as well. I had a bad cold at the time and was blowing my nose constantly, and although they remained in place all night (and into the next morning), during the course of the day they would gradually peel off because of the constant tissue friction. However as a night treatment, and used as intended, they worked perfectly, in fact there were times when I forgot I even had a cold sore. I should imagine the day patches are designed to adhere for longer – I’ll let you know once I’ve trialled them.

Finally, I’ve kept the best news till last, and this certainly deserves a drum roll - barely any blisters formed, and consequently, no scab…! Just over a week after the initial outbreak, all I have is a slightly flakey area of pinkish skin, which is easily disguisable with (hygienically applied) concealer. I only had enough patches for four days treatment, so as far as I am concerned, this result is un-be-lieveable.

Thank you SO much bh for introducing me to this truly amazing product - one I will NEVER be without.
