Stress-free friend

While the silly season is all about parties, presents and plenty of food and drink, it can also be pretty stressful too. Not only do you have to plan each and every outfit for said parties (and find complementing hair and make-up looks), but you also have to find the time to buy said presents in the midst of a hectic pre-holiday work schedule.
Add to that more than your fair share of late nights, food comas and hangovers and, well…a girl can very nearly reach breaking point – all before the start of the new year!
I happen to have a very thoughtful friend who, sensing how hectic things are about to become, sent me a beautiful de-stressing pack complete with some lovely BeGenki beauty goodies.
Included in the pack was a BeGenki Candle in Serenity (a soy wax candle designed to help bring about a sense of calm), a BeGenki Vitality Face Mist (a gentle and hydrating blend of peppermint, lemon and rosemary essential oils that provides an instant pick-me-up), and a BeGenki Vitality Body Oil (a lightweight, moisture-intensive body oil to nourish and revitalise tired skin).
It was such a welcome treat because, looking through my goodie bag, I suddenly realised just how much I needed everything in there (and one or two early nights too I’d say!) So later that day when I started to feel a bit overwhelmed, I looked away from my computer, lit my candle, spritzed my face with the refreshing mist, and slathered my body in the rich oil. It didn’t make my workload or my social schedule any lighter, but it definitely made me feel better!

What’s the nicest thing a friend has ever done for you?

The mother of one of my long term friends is also a great friend of mine. She lives in LA and on one of her annual visits she bought a year's membership at a great gym for her daughter. Then, to my delight and surprise, she treated me to one as well. It was very sweet but very clever as I needed some 'me' time due to a highly demanding job I had and this was a great way of helping me to achieve that goal. Also, my friend and I were able to spend more time together when we were at the gym together which I believe was another reason that I was given the membership.

We moved house two weeks after I had an emergency caeserean and a friend of ours organised a team to help pack, move, unpack and clean the house we moved from - the whole lot was done in a day and was a huge 'load off', especially given that I wasn't permitted to do much.

The biggest and best thing a friend ever did for me was ask me to marry him! I did.

A friend of mine has offered to cook me and my family meals when I have my baby early next year. She is such a caring, giving and generous person, a great friend!! Great friends are very hard to come by and when you find good friends they become part of your extended family.

Years ago when I had my second child, I went through complications medically and was not to lift heavy objects for 3 months. I had a newborn and a two year old. A girlfried came around each day and had made dinners that just needed to pop in oven each night and did my washing for me. She made life so much easier for me.

I lived in the UK for 6 1/2 yrs. A few weeks after speaking to a friend back home in Brisbane about how much I missed home and my family, he emailed to say that he'd booked his ticket to come and see me. He flew across the planet to cheer me up because he knew I needed a hug from a friend. Best. Friend. Ever. ♥

I was, probably still am, fighting depression. I got bullied so bad, my family situations were bad, my friendships were getting ruined even between my best friends who used to say they cared for me. I felt so bad, I wanted to kill myself, and I would self mutilate myself. Then one friend who I hadn't spoken to in a while came forward and helped me. She helped me through my roughest times and I've never thought of hurting myself ever again.

My best friend broke into my house on the Friday of a rough week while i was at work, cleaned it from top to bottom, put fresh flowers all around and greeted me at the door with a pitcher of strawberry cocktail. It was the nicest break and enter i bet anyones ever had!

On my wedding day, I realised that I have no dressy rings to wear apart from my engagement ring. I was at the salon and with dramatic dress and henna on my hands, I really needed some rings.I was at the salon getting ready, and my longest term bff ran down to the shops and got me some ! I was so pleased and relieved!

After 27 years of marriage my husband left me and besides my sons i had no financial help as he also left me in debt.At that particular time i had hade a fall out with my GF, she found out what happened and was the first person to ring me and give me support. She has helped me out so much with everything, she takes me shopping, appointments etc. I have been presented with things from her that i could not afford myself. I would have loved to buy her something really special for christmas to show her my appreciation for her selfless generousity. :)

I have some gorgeous Be Genki products, they are perfect for the ultimate relaxation :) I can't think of anything stand outish off the top of my head, but most of my "real" girlfriends are the same friends I have had for years and years, even though we have all moved away from each other and live our own lives these days we still keep in touch (thank goodness for Facebook, lol) and recently one of those girlfriends asked me to be her bridesmaid at her wedding, I couldn't feel more privileged :)

One of the first nice surprises from a friend I remember was when I was at school. I was leaving Cairns and moving to the country. I was leaving all my friends and my life as I knew it. Thoughtfully Kate bought me an autograph book and she secretly went around getting my friends to sign it with a message to me (and their addresses) so if I was missing everyone all I needed to do was read their comments and I would feel happy again.

This actually made me realize that using the things you have can relax you and that you don't have to fork out on a spa trip! thanks.
