Ha! I'm an absolute shocker when it comes to looking after my nails - I type most of the day in an office so long nails just get in the way. I usually cut them really short or pick at/bite them....the only thing that helps is applying a pretty pink polish and keeping my hands and cuticles really moisturised

I am obsessed with cuticle oil! I love it... I have damaged my nails lately due to overlay's acrylic gel etc so letting them go natural at the moment hopefully they will strengethen up again

While part of me wishes I had gorgeous nails, I have to keep them very short for work anyway, and washing your hands a million times a day zaps any moisture away. Maybe when I retire. ;o)

I am guilty of not filing my nails when they get too long. They then break and I have irregular nails which I do not like. As I prefer my nails quite short (it suits my hands and my lifestyle) I really need to get on top of the filing. I really dislike filing which is why I avoid it. On the plus side, I condition my cuticles every day.

I often cut my nails before they get too long and file them. I have been painting my nails for the last couple of months (recently bought 8 new shades and changing them every week!), and fortunately there hasn't been any staining or yellowing.

I try to look after my nails every week. I've used Sally Hansen's Nail Hardeners for years but the last one I bought doesn't seem to be working very well. It is splitting my nails instead so won't be using this one again. Going back to try another one instead asap.

My nails are horrible! I can't maintain them at all but I play guitar so I can't have perfect nails....
I occasionally paint them though.

My hands sometimes are a little worse for ware!! My polish is often chipped and I really need to stop painting over the chips instead of removing it and starting over!!! :)

I try to look after my nails now, but I never used to use a base coat simply because I wasn't aware of it. I always thought that when you get your nails done at a salon they just applied lots of different things to justify the price but no one ever told me how important it is to use a base coat..
I often forget about my cuticles and a lot of the time they look dry... So I got a Sally Hansen cuticle treatment in a pen and I've been using it since.. it's pretty good once you learn how to use it properly!

I play the violin, so it's impossible for me to have long nails. I try to keep them in good condition - I find that a good hand cream is actually really effective on nails, even if it isn't designed specifically for them. I regularly give my nails a soak in warm oil to keep them healthy and shiny - it's also very relaxing :)

I'm horrible with my nails. I really should look after them. I keep telling myself that I will do that later...when my nails are longer.

I learned the hard way that the so called nail strengtheners actually do more harm than good, I have tried every one from the budget to the most expensive OPI versions yet wondered why my nails always seemed to get worse instead of better. Then after consulting with a nail care professional I was told that for people with sensitive nails (yes you can apparently have sensitive nails as well, lol) these treatments which are full of harsh chemicals completely dry out your nail causing damage deep down in the nail bed, the part of the nail that we don't see, so that when they grow out they end up brittle and end up peeling and breaking. I have being doing ongoing intensive therapy on my hands and nails which includes Orly Nail Defense (as I was recommended a protein treatment to help repair my nails) Orly Cuticle Oil, endless amounts of hand cream along with sweet almond oil to nourish my nails and help bring back the moisture to rule out the dehydration they are suffering. The only other change I have made is to wear gloves when washing up and cleaning. Oh and I was told the best time to file my nails is after showering etc when they are still softer.

I'm usually pretty good, although when it gets near the end of the week, I have been guilty of a few unrepaired chips...

I just do clear on my nails or they peel too quickly but I do colours on my toes!! So many nice ones out at the moment too. I love cuticle oil and burts bees cuticle jelly.

My nails tend to grow so quickly I try and cut them quite short and I prefer a natural or french manicure look, leaving only my toenails with bold colours

Mel, i understand your comments, as i have had trouble in the past with these types of teatments and for me, sweet almond oil, some burts bees and other natural options often work best. I do like Orlys cuticle oil too!
