How-to: push back your cuticles

Lots of people know the importance of tending to your cuticles before a manicure, but do you know how to take care of them properly?
Your cuticles are the little bit of skin that attaches your nail to the skin on your finger. People often think that cutting the cuticle is the right way to take care of your nails, but be warned – that‘s actually the quickest way to develop rough, tough cuticles! Plus, cutting your cuticles can make you susceptible to all sorts of skin irritations and infections. Instead of cutting, your cuticles should simply be pushed back so that you can paint closer to your skin and make your manicure last longer.
Here’s how you should go about it:
- Start by applying a good cuticle softener everyday so that they’re healthy and can be easily pushed back when you decide to have a manicure. We love ORLY Cuticle Oil+ for it’s nourishing properties.
- Next, use a good cuticle stick to ensure you don’t damage the cuticle when you’re pushing them back. We like Cutex Cuticle Sticks for their gentle rounded edge.
Once they’re tucked away, you’re ready to perform your manicure!

I love a good manicure, great looking nails do radiate a great feeling, i work somewhere where my hands are always in public eye. My best tip: Go to a manicurist. I've tried so many at home diy manicure kits, but nothing ever looks as good as what they can do in a salon.
