This summer: remember to slip, slop and slap… your nails.

When the sun starts to shine it’s important to be on top of your protection. You have to think about protecting your skin from premature ageing, ghastly sunspots and unattractive red raw beach burning – oh, and then there’s hair! Those of you worth your weight in Casting Crème Gloss will know how important it is to defend your hue from colour fade when the summer months start to roll around.

But if you thought that was the extent of your sun protection procedures, think again, as there’s one more element you’ll want to keep defended – your nails! So heed my warning if partial to a pretty polish or two…

Lacquer fans beware! Right now I bet you think that pretty pink polish is perfectly harmless, don’t you? Well, you may have done a top-notch application job, but the fact is, that polish may be just be the cause of that yellowish tinge on your nail beds.

Fact: UV rays are incredibly good at fading your bright nail hue, or worse still – yellowing it so that a pretty unmovable stain is left for all to see. This means we need to step up our sun protection game, in order to keep our manis (and our naked nails) looking marvellous. Our fast fix? A touch of ORLY Sunscreen for Nails. It specialises in the protection of pastel and light shades, such as French manicures and the like, but is great to use over other nail hues too.
So, as you reach for your SPF 30+ and your UV-protecting hair spritz this beach season, remember that there’s no bigger beauty sin than yellow nails – and you don’t want a one-way ticket to bad-beauty town now do you?
