10 of the best: hand helpers

Around this time of the year, your teeth might chatter and goose bumps may surface, but no one really spares a thought for how bad of a battering your hands receive when it starts to get chilly.
We are constantly washing our hands, exposing them to household chemicals and environmental elements – all of which contribute to how dry and chapped they get. So the least we can do this winter is ensure our hands are looked after, by stockpiling nourishing hand helpers our paws will love.

The Body Shop Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream
If you’re a big beauty buff like me, the only thing that can top an amazing new product is an amazing new product with a cause. This hand cream newbie is infused with angelica extract and Community Trade Olive Oil. It smells scrumptious and softens and moisturises dry and chapped hands to perfection. Better still, all proceeds from the limited edition cream go towards Child Wise's vital program in Cambodia to stop the sex trafficking of children.

Moisturising after washing hands helps keep them looking their best.
I like that The Body Shop doesn't only make great products but it also supports great causes.

I've been using my Aveeno creams lately - they are soooo good and feel great in winter with this current dry air. My hands just go "Ahhhhhhhh" after I put it on. My nails get the odd rub with cuticle oil (the Orly one or the Burt's Bees one) and I've been pretty slack with colour lately - just stuck with a french polish kind of look which has been easy to maintain because it's hard to tell when it wears off.

This sounds good. I love the body shop's products, but they're a bit pricey. If I had enough money, I would buy all my products from the body shop. :) (well sort of)

Sounds like a top product. Very important to keep hands moisturised throughout the year including in winter.

This sounds like a great product with good philosophies. I always use QV cream in winter as it stops my hands splitting & bleeding. I use other types in the warmer months that are not so rich & thick. Recommended to me by my doctor.

I try to remember to moisturise my hands every day in winter but I really am hopeless. I think a luscious hand cream like this one from the body shop would help to remind me!

bh member, Wowi61, emailed in this hand tip: "During winter i have lots of trouble keeping my hands soft. After applying my moisturiser i put a pair of woollen gloves on overnight and the following morning my hands felt so soft. I was so amazed i had to share this little tip."
Thanks Wowi61!

I keep small tubes of hand cream scattered around in my handbag, in the car, at my desk at work, and on the bedside table so I can moisturise every chance I get.
