Round face + Side fringe = ?

I have a very round face and have had the same long black middle part hair which I just pull back into a pony everyday hairstyle since I can remember, and I feel like it’s time for something new!
I’ve always wanted a fringe to get rid of my middle part and cover my forehead just a little. But everywhere says round faces don’t work with the blunt style fringe and having a longer whispier fringe will annoy me. So I’m wondering what are the theories on side fringes with round faces? Or if anyone else out there has a very round face and has some easily maintainable style ideas I can take to my hairdresser?

Catherine Zeta Jones has a really round face but she looks great with a side fringe:

i think a side fringe looks great, but as others have said make it a long side fringe so you could tuck it behind your ear, then it will blend in with your short hair. good luck

Well I got it done and I absolutely LOVE it, I went down to try the local guy my mum gets her hair done at and OMG I`m never going to another. It`s completely flattering and so easy to straighten and make it look perfect. If anyone lives in the western suburbs of Adelaide, Queen Bee Hair Salon is amazing! and awesomely priced I would gladly have paid double even triple for the job he done!

My sister`s face is quite round but she can pull of a side fringe. If you do get a side fringe make sure its not too short because that can make your face rounder

I do like that, it`s a pretty, soft look that would flatter most people.

Wow, thanks for all your great ideas and advice ladies.
I`ve found the makeover section at http://www.instyle.com and had a play around looking through styles that included some of the things you fantastic ladies suggested and I found one I like and it really slims/lengthens my face…. Here`s the style but I`m going to go brunette….http://www.topnews.in/light/files/Ashley_Olsen.jpg

I personally don`t think it matters what sort of fringe you have for a round face. The only thing you need to watch out for is drawing attention to the ends of your hair which should be below your jawline. By drawing attention downwards you`re extending someone`s face. Get it????

My face shape is mostly round and I have a sideswept fringe and I most likely won`t ever change it as it really works for my face shape.

I`m sure you`ll look great no matter what you decide Linga. Just remember you need to draw attention to the ends so something layered that`s longer than your jawline is always going to look great. Go nuts!!!!! xxoxo

I have a pretty round face and I have a blunt fringe that sort of skims my eyes and the rest is a graduated bob. It doesn`t make my face look rounder and if you are worried have the rest cut in a way that shapes in along your jawline. I actually find this cut brings out my cheekbones and is quite flattering.

Hm, well I`ve heard the thing about a blunt fringe making round faces rounder too. My face is a bit round, and I have a side fringe, which really works wonders with making my face look slimmer and smaller. As long as it`s long enough to pull off to the side, I think it works, so it`s not all that wispy.

Try taking the hair at the front and pinning it back and making a fake blunt fringe. It`s a rough imitation, but might help you get an idea of what it`d look like 🙂
