MINOR TRANSFORMATION #1: ASTRID

After sporting my natural hair colour for almost five years (!!!), I grew incredibly sick and tired of how greasy it felt on a daily basis. The issue? A notable absence of chemical colour to counteract all that natural sebum – it was just too darn healthy! No style ever stayed longer than five seconds, my roots were slicked and the colour was too flat, too one dimensional, and too boring. Not wanting to do anything too drastic (I’m such a chicken), my hairdresser decided to add a few soft highlights around my face and throughout my hair for a multi-dimensional, casual and beachy look. Can I just say how annoyed I am at myself for not doing this sooner?! It instantly gave my hair more warmth and depth, I could get two – sometimes three – days in between washes, which is a minor miracle. The ends are a little drier than before, but that’s an easy fix with the L’OCCITANE Aromachologie Repairing Oil (on the days I remember!). Now, when I style with my favourite muk Curl Stick, the curls not only stay ALL DAY but pick up the highlights throughout and give my hair this glossy, golden, gorgeous finish. Plus, the maintenance is so ideal. A few times a year I’ll visit the salon to touch up my highlights – that’s more than enough for me.

MINOR TRANSFORMATION #2: ROSIE

From the day I got engaged, I was on a mission to grow my hair as long as possible for my wedding day. I knew I was going to have a loose upstyle, so I wanted all of the length I could get so my hairstylist could make my style look as full as possible. One-and-a-half years of growth later, and after an incredible wedding day, I decided I was going to cut off my length. I wanted a fresh-looking, shoulder-length cut just to have something a little different. So I bid adieu to around four inches of hair! This length not only feels lighter, but it’s also pretty refreshing to have much less length when blow-drying/styling. The cut is quite blunt too, which makes it look fresher. I haven’t yet decided if I want to keep it shorter or grow it out again, but only time will tell!

When was the last time you gave your mane a make-over?
