Budget buddies

I’m moving house next week (yippee!) and decided last night to get a head start on my sorting and packing – beginning with my bathroom cupboards. Boy, did I have my work cut out for me…
Trawling through the plethora of products, I came across quite a few fab beauty buys, and seeing that it’s a week of stellar steals, I thought I’d share with you the budget-friendly of the bunch.
First up in one product I definitely can’t live without – Batiste Dry Shampoo. It’s a real lifesaver for me, because I often find myself running so late in the mornings that I just don’t have time to wash my hair (ok, sometimes I’m also just lazy too). It absorbs any excess grease in just a few sprays, and gives limp locks a shot of volume too. My fave is the Tropical-scented one, but now that I’m a brunette, I’m using the Coloured version.
Another great staple is my Maybelline New York SuperStay 24hr Makeup. In this gig, I’ve often got to go straight from work to an event, and having a foundation that lasts all day and night (and feels comfortable on my skin to boot) is a big plus for me. And once it’s on, it stays on – so even if I have to change my outfit it doesn’t rub off onto my clothes.
Also on my must-have list is L’Oreal Paris Body Expertise Exfotonic. Coming in at just under $20, it’s a teensy bit more pricey than some other body scrubs, but it really is worth the spend. I use it throughout the year, but even after just one use you’ll immediately notice how soft and smooth your skin feels. It’s also brilliant for helping to remove fake tan faux pas.

What budget-friendly beauty buys are you currently using?

Wow, Deb, you're finally moving! Exciting! I also adore Batiste's Dry Shampoo - I have the Tropical one in the mini size for my gym bag and a big Blush one. I'm a big fan of Herbal Essences S&C. Just love the fragrances and funky bottles. I enjoy VO5's hot hair oil and hairspray which I have both used lately. Makeup wise, I'm a big fan of Revlon. They have great fashionable makeup ranges and I really like their foundations, too.

Lovint this article! I can't resist value bargains!! Yep to Batiste Dry Shampoo and I love the sound of that L'Oreal Body scrub.
I've had a Pantene 3 Minute Miracle hair treatment last night and my hair really does feel good today (completely inexpensive). I also love Optrex Eye Drops to whiten my eyes for when I want to look brighter and fresher instantly (around $5-$7). I also am completely in love with Neutrogena Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Fight & Fade Gel - I love that it really fades the marks (a real bargain Glosscar winner!).
Love the sounds of that Smackers detangler spray for my kiddiwinks!! Thanks for reminding me of this product BG!

Beautygeek - I have heard that is great (and that it smells terrific). I might give it a go.
My favourite budget buy is Vaseline - I use it every single night on my lips before I go to bed.

Lucas paw paw ointment. It's got so many uses, that I can never go anywhere without it in my bag and one tube lasts for ages. At $6 you can't go wrong as it has so many uses. It's good for dry skin, burns, scratches and cuts and a great lip balm.

Bio-oil. You can't go wrong, all over body moisturiser as well as using it on my face before i go to bed. My skin feels pretty amazing in the morning when I wake up. You only need a little bit as it goes a long way.

Its been a budget friendly day for me, picked up some Physicians Formula Organic Wear goodies for $1.00 each at Kmart. I got a good armload of blush, pressed powder, loose powder and finishing veil all for a total of five bucks , fun to experiment so cheap anyway. Usually I love all things Revlon for affordability, one real cheapie but goodie I can offer for those really tough times is Redwin Sorbolene with Vitamin E moisturiser for face. This costs less than a bag of lollies and it really hydrates, protects and nourishes the skin. It isnt greasy, is pleasantly fragranced and is a great makeup base.

I have a few that I can think of, Maybelline mascara's are brilliant, Palmolive Body Wash and Shower Gel's are always good. Cussons also have some nice ones that smell really yummy. I swear by my Priceline brand sorbolene cream for shaving my legs (a big 1Lt bottle is only a few dollars). Styli-style coloured eyeliners, NYX makeup is really cheap and becoming a favourite of mine. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream is dirt cheap and I love it on my hands. I have to mention QV products which are perfect for me and my kids with our sensitive skin, they use the kids moisturiser and wash, I always have the QV bath oil, lotion and cream on hand too. So many budget products that I cant keep up with them all, lol. This is a great blog because I am keen to see what budget products everyone else recommends, this site is the place to come when you are looking for suggestions that's for sure :) I have never tried that Maybelline foundation you mentioned Deb but I am definitely going to check it out, not to mention the Loreal Body Scrub it looks perfect for me, I am keen to use products with AHA's because they really keep my skin looking good and keep any pimples away too :)

I definitely have to agree with so many here Lucas paw paw ointment is a budget fav product :) I am on the lookout for a body scrub so the Loreal one you mentioned Deb does sound good. I also love my Sukin moisturiser. It is richer than what I'd probably consider using for my combo skin, but has in fact reduced my oiliness, so I'm quite impressed! I'm still working through my old face wash and toner, but I also have the Sukin one. A bottle of each of these items is 125ml at $10-15 (I think, can't remember what I paid now), in my books that is pretty good to be getting a whole skin care regimen for under $40. I only wish these products were listed so I could review them.

My fave budget beauty buys are paw paw ointment as everyone has mentioned(I've heard sooo much abt this item and know how many million girls are using this but I only use this myself 2-3 days ago and already hooked on it and carry it everywhere with me), dry shampoo definitely, organic hair care shampoo for only $2-$3, sorbolene 1 litre for only $8, bys nail polish cheap and not too bad, cetaphil cleanser 1 litre for 10++,vaseline hand cream for only $5, montagne 3 pack dead sea mud mask for less than $10 and I'm sure even 1 pack will last me for abt 3-4 masks.

I am really loving my Garnier toner for sensitive skin, it's quite cheap and leaves my skin feeling fresh. I also love Neutrogena's Norweigan Formula hand cream and think it's one of the most effective on the market. My other bargain beauty buy is a recent one from my Amcal chemist, Pharmacy Care Green Tea Facial Wipes and Mango and something hand wipes for just $3.50 for 25 wipes. The face wipes are nice and thick and the hand wipes smell divine.

my great buy is Earth and Body - Henna Wax Treatment. This stuff is almost as good as the much more expensive Loreal Professional Absolut repair mask, and its about $5 only at Priceline.
Can't go pass that one ladies, if you have have dry, dull brittle hair the breaks and is prone to split ends, go take a look at this wonderful product.
