Your hair needs Keratin

Do you guys know I have pretty curly hair naturally? No, you probably didn’t – because there’s a reason I don’t grace this gorgeous site with photo evidence of my horridly badly behaved locks. They’re all sorts of crazy - curling and tangling and never sitting right. Washing and straightening was a task all on its own.
That was of course, until I discovered the brand new Keratin treatment available, and I was transported straight (excuse the pun!) to hair heaven almost instantly…
You may remember me blogging about my first Keratin experience a few years ago? Well it’s come leaps and bounds since then, and I took myself off to the gorgeous Brad Ngata salon at Sydney’s Ivy to find out more.
“The formulation is formaldehyde-free and only needs to be left on your hair for around 20 minutes!”, my gorgeous stylist, Taylor, informed me. I was thrilled. 20 minutes seemed light-years away from the days of having to keep my locks dead straight for three straight days!
Taylor applied the formulation to my locks in sections using a paint brush, before blow-drying and then carefully straightening all over to ‘seal in the formula.’ After that my hair felt kind of sticky and smelled of chocolate! Mmm mmm!
Fast forward to once I’d washed out the formula when I got home about an hour or so later. My hair felt incredible. I think that is even a bit of an understatement. The fact that the formulation is formaldehyde-free really made a difference to the texture of my strands. But the real test? Was how manageable it would be…
To put it in perspective, normally once I wash my hair, I struggle to run my fingers through it, and though Taylor had warned me that my hair wouldn’t be dead straight, just relaxed – I couldn’t believe how smooth and silky my hair was – without me having to do anything to it! It gave new meaning to ‘wash and go’ for me. I was in heaven! Now, two months on, my hair is still silky smooth, a little wavy and feels far healthier than ever before due to the lack of mid-week straightening. Though I’ll need to go back in around a month for another session, this is one beauty treatment I won’t be giving up anytime soon!

Psst... Just so you know, the ‘Zussh Bar’ has officially launched at Brad Ngata's IVY salon in Sydney's CBD!
Just in time for the summer party season, girls can get a free ten minute makeover as they pass through on their lunch break, on their way out from work or before they head on up to the IVY. In ten minutes, you can have your will fringes sorted, bumps smoothed with Cloud 9 irons and texture, sheen and hold added with L’Oréal and Kérastase products.
The service is completely free and everyone who goes in for a ‘Zuush’ is automatically entered into a draw to win a Brad Ngata makeover, that includes a styling session with Fleur Wood and a $500 clothing voucher from her line – all valued at over $1,500! Yippee!!

It sounds absolutely heavenly to me. I have that type of hair that isnt straight but isnt curly and completely has a mind of its own. It can frizz up or even almost go into dreadlocks if not kept permanently straightened and this takes a huge toll on my poor locks. I will be looking into getting this done, I guess it depends on how long and thick your hair is cost wise??

Interesting to see answers to the above queries from other members - would love to try a product that would "relax" my frizz locks.

Is there a Zussh bar anywhere in Melbourne? I want one!
I dont have a huge problem with frizz. I have more of a problem with lack of volume as I have really fine hair. I can see why it would be a godsend for curly or frizzy hair though...

Not very clued in on Keratin, but it sure sounds like it worked for you Liv - I presume they can do it on short hair too? Wouldn't mind some lock taming :-)

I've heard it looks great but I've also heard that they had to take an ingredient out recently because it was bad for women's health. Not sure if I'm correct but I thought I read this somewhere?

Oh, this sounds brilliant. It would be perfect for me if: a) I wasn't a student & hence poorer than your average Beauty and b) slightly concerned about inhaling/absorbing Formaldehyde. It does sound extremely tempting though :/

Wish I was living in Sydney! Don't need the Keratin treatment (already have straight hair) but the 10 minute makeovers sound wonderful!

I do freak out about the whole formaldehyde thing, but I guess if they say it doesn't have it, it musn't.

I've heard so many good things about the Keratin treatment! I've been thinking of paying for one for my mum's birthday coming up. :D

that does sound wonderful :) It'd be good as a gift for any women you know on their birthday. Pampering vouchers are something a lot of women love as birthday gifts, because they might want to pay for it themselves.

I get a keratin treatment at a local salon & love the results. I believe it would be a less better product than an expensive CBD salon one, but it still does the job and it makes styling time so much quicker. I may have to upgrade to the one mentioned in this article when I can afford it - sounds like a dream :) (not to mention I have to wait 3 days before washing, and cant tie it up or clip it ... NIGHTMARE)

Its amazing what a couple of years can do especially with technology in every form.
I would go the Keratin treatment, its a matter of finding the right salon there is always going to be good / bad operators in any business.

I've heard that no keratin treatment is formaldehyde free so I would like to know if they showed you an ingredients list. I've read a few articles saying it is the heating process that causes formaldehyde to form from the product. I am glad you got your hair the way you want it.
