Celebrity hairstylist Kevin Murphy tells how to squeeze a salon blow-dry into your savings plan...
"If I were having a regular blow-dry, I would make a deal with the salon for a reasonable ongoing flat rate. There is nothing like a great blow-dry to get you feeling glamorous," says Kevin Murphy.
True. There's also nothing like a crushing credit card statement to do the opposite, so strike a deal and save.

i've looked around some of the salons close to me but they are pretty exey. I'm pretty good at my own now so that saves me the money so i can spend it on other things. hehehe.

Good tip. It's something I never thought of, but makes great sense. the hairdresser would be super happy to nail down repeat business too. Win/win...

That's a pretty good idea - but my hair is very fine, so blow dry's never last long enough, they collapse within the hour, so I prefer being able to do my own every day.

The only time I have a professional blow dry is when I get my hair re-coloured, any other time I do it at home.

Same here Gem, so it is only every 2-4 months! I do love having the professionals blow dry my hair though - but I don't think the budget is worth stretching that far - I can do a reasonable job on my own - might be an idea for a special occasion though.

It is quite expensive having a blow dry at the salon and I usually get it done when I have my hair coloured as well. I have all the styling products at home so I should just get a dry off at the salon and save myself $40 - $50 on my style.

It costs so much that I usually just get them to lightly dry it after I have my 8 weekly colour & cut unless I am totally changing my cut in which case I get the hairdresser to do it thus showing me a new way to style it.

I agree with some of the other comments, my blow dry's don't last long enough to make a weekly investment in them. I prefer to do them myself, I use a ceramic hair brush which heats up from the hot air and it really makes my hair alot smoother and dries much quicker.

Or you invest in a great brush and hairdryer and learn how to do it yourself. Practice works!!

i went to get my hair blow dried straight at the hairdressers once, and they did the worst job. iv never trusted anyone else to straighten my hair. i much prefer to just the take the time to do it at home now, then i know it will look good

If you can afford it buy a Parlux hairdryer. You will really notice the difference in the time it takes. Mine is one of the compact designs and is easy to manage. Experment with brushes but buy ceramic types when available. I have fine thick frizzy hair and have always blown my hair dry as it is the only way it looks OK. Your article was very relevant as are all on the site.

I've never had a blow dry done professionally, I was always under the impression that it would make my hair more frizzy.

A good blow-dry makes me look and feel good. I get mine done professionally every now and then. Using the right tools and the correct styling procedures will cut down the costs and hair will always look great.
