The cheat’s guide to dodging a hair chop

Okay, so you all know I’m little more than a lazy locks. I’ve been on what seems like a never-ending battle to grow my mop past that annoying just-below-the-shoulders-length and even contemplated chopping it all off. But I’ve come this far and I just can’t bring myself to do it.
So, I’ve discovered the cheater’s way to avoid the six-weekly chop for just a little bit longer. It’s called L’Oreal Paris Elvive Total Repair Restoring Masque, and it’s set to be your newest long-term relationship. This tub of totally repairing pro-keratin and ceramide serum, works to repair your hair cells back to their former glory (a.k.a. before the brutal abuse from your styling tools) and intensely nourish your strands. Plus, the scent is seriously snuggle-worthy, oh-so fruity and complete with that just-washed smell.
I’ve been using this twice a week for the past two weeks, and while I won’t be able to avoid the hairdresser’s chair forever, I’ve definitely bought myself a few more weeks!

What’s your best trick to avoid a trim?

I use this product as well and it definately gives me a few more weeks. I haven't had split ends ever since I cut my hair into a bob about three years ago. Now I'm growing it out and I still haven't seen split ends, hopefully it stays this way :D

When my fringe starts growing out too long I just sweep it to the side or wear headbands.

Using a good moisturising treatment at least once a week, I've been using V05 hot oil, and more recently andrew collinge too. Been 5 months (shhhh don't tell anyone) since my last trim, and on Saturday at the open day my hairdresser commented on how healthy and in good condition my hair was so must be doing something right!

My last trim was in jan or feb,so hasn't been that long. But usually will try to trim it abt once every 6 mths,as my mane grow pretty quickly lon, maybe because I always treat it with treatment once every forthnight.

I remember growing out my fringe and when it reached my eyes....all I could do was go grrrrrrrr, came so close to cutting it again but perservered with headbands, bobby pins. Eventually it grew out and I was happy then.
Wow Loreal are certainly bringing out some great products.

I've been using a Frederik Fekkai hair masque that I got for my birthday and I've actually noticed my hair looks so much more healthier and all those annoying floaty baby hairs up top sit calmly once my hair is dry! It has a yummy coconut vanilla scent that lingers and I think (although this might be a placebo effect/wishful thinking) even areas that were thinner near the temple seem abit fuller. Definitely keeps those annoying ends in line as well!

I'm so in tune with this article! I find it kind of tempting to have a new 'hair cut' in a way (i.e. trim usually in my case!) because it can make it feel so fresh and swingy but I've continued growing it for a while now. I wrote it down in one of my notebooks that I wanted to grow my hair long - kind of like a 'vision' thing for my hair Lol!
I tell myself that those 'long hair' products really do work and I also tell myself it's cheaper to buy one of these lovely products instead of paying to get a trim. It always works! My hair always gets longer and it's stayed reasonably healthy considering my lack of hair appointments because I'll spend my time instead giving it a deep hair treatment instead of driving down to get a trim. In short, I've avoided the hairdresser!
With this 'tactic' I now have long hair and a great stash of intensive conditioning products designed for people trying to grow their hair - namely, me. Amongst my treasured collection are the beautiful Artav (Natural Look) shampoos and conditioners, L'Oreal Elvive Deep Nourishing Masque, Marc Daniels Damage Control products and Protein Treatment, James Brown Intensive Moisture Mask, Charles Worthington Stay Smooth shampoo (unreal!), Clairol Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship range including the Mask from Beautyheaven (thankyou!), Pantene Deep Fortifying Treatment (so quick!), and my latest addition thankfully from the Goody Bag from the Beautyheaven Open Day is the Andrew Collinge Complete Moisture 1 Minute Deep Conditioner treatment (thankyou again!). I have a few 'Leave In' products as well which I love to use too, mostly on the ends of my hair which need a little extra special attention. I love my 'hair pampering' product collection and as I wash my hair almost every day I know that as my hair grows it's getting treated well enough so I can avoid "The Trim" which I really couldn't be bothered to drive down to get anyhow! My tactic is working, but I suppose I really should get a hair trim sooner or later.

I usually use long hair products and hair treatments, just like softness (who has just provided me with many options for new masks!). I also find that avoiding colouring and over styling will help :)

I have hair that is too short for the trusty ponytail so it's clips and headbands when I'm in need of a trim. If my fringe gets too out of control I do have a pair of good scissors just to tidy it up a bit if needed. I sometimes get the urge to do something totally different but then I get a trim and it all sits nice and neat again and the urge goes passes, I think that urge hits us when our hair is in desperate need of a pair of scissors as I find at this time my hair gets messy and unmanageable and I feel like I need to do something with it. Luckily these days I have a regular hairdresser who really knows my hair so she helps me resist or gives me ideas that are actually liveable, thanks Kate =D

I have my two trusty haircare staples, I have not had my hair cut since last October and there are no signs of dead ends, I use my DeLorenzo Rejuven8 The Ends most days and once a week I give it a good application of Redken Extreme Anti Snap. With the combination of these two products my hair is always so much stronger and the ends are very health. Not to mention smelling divine :)

I very rarely trim...and I have rather long hair. I use a nice treatment that does wonders to split ends. After finishing Loreal's Elvive dry hair masque, I'm currently using Garnier's nutri-oil intense mask. It's fair good!

I just had a trim but went since about Sept last year since my last one! Naughty considering I have long hair but trying not to torture my hair with tools to much, a good shampoo, conditioner and treatment all help look after it in between. I like to put it into plaits, ponytails etc to help be gentlewith it to. I really like the sounds of this new product, seems like it was created for people like me, lol!

I'm actually a bit slack with going to the hairdressers, rather be buying makeup instead. I usually only get around to going once a year, my hair grows like mad so each time I go I get about 4-5 inches off. I keep my hair moisturised and usually don't have any split ends in between cuts.

I try to do a hydrating mask every so often to keep the ends from drying out and splitting, but I'm usually pretty good with getting trims~

I don't get split ends as i have a trim every six weeks, i have short thick hair and the consultants at the open day also said my hair is healthy, i usually give it a vo5 hair treatment and that certaintly helps.

I sometimes sit down with a pair of nail scissors and trim off all the visible split ends. WARNING - only use nail scissors, as a slip of the hand with full sized scissors can be disastrous!

I treat my hair to regular deep treatments to keep my hair looking strong and healthy. Because my hair is long I'll occassionally cut a tiny bit off the ends myself. If I'm after more of a style cut then I definately head to the hairdressers.

Embrace my natural curls and avoid overstyling. I should use a hair treatment mask more often. Thanks for all your recommendations, Softness. You are a gem! : )
