If there’s one thing that inspires me, it’s new season hair looks. Granted, I don’t always jump into a new trend head first, but I’m always insanely interested to see what’s new and fresh in hair land – and if there’s a way for me to subtly inject it into my own look, then I’m all the more excited.
Which is the very reason I was so impressedafter clapping eyes on Paloma Rose Garcia’s (Session Stylist and Salon Partner for Oscar Oscar Salons in Sydney) latest collection, ‘Pastel Romance’, which was inspired by the 20s, 50s and 60s – as well as hit TV show, Mad Men. This new collection is the proof that Paloma certainly knows how to give great hair, and well and truly delivers on this season’s biggest trends in a way that is sure to have you swooning.
The trend: the haircut
This chilly season it’s all about blunt, bold cuts that demand attention. Keep it feminine by adding body and movement, and stay away from severe edges that can make your hair look too heavy. A structural haircut could be just the refresher your look needs – so trim those feathered ends and get edgy.
The trend: true colour
Not only is block colour the order of the season, but the more unusual the hue, the better. Think white blonde, delicious, shiny caramels and jet-black locks. All single-toned, all equally jaw dropping. Note: it may take a couple of hairdresser visits to achieve the perfect punchy hue – but when you do, it’ll be worth it.
The trend: subtle two-tone
If you do want to go down the two-tone route, keep in mind that the more gradual the colour morph, the more on trend the look. Stray away from regular colour-contrast balayage, and try teaming more blendable hues instead. Think red strands gently faded out into lighter ends, chestnut strands subtly morphed with purple, or a strategically placed flicker of colour.
