Backstage beauty tip: back-brush for bounce

Behind the seams at Zimmermann, hair director Sophie Roberts fast-tracked a luxe, blow-dried look by back-brushing locks before applying her GHD. Creating instant oomph, this teasing gives tresses volume and structure that won't collapse beneath a flat iron. And it's quicker than blow-drying with a round brush.
To DIY, work a handful of volumising mousse through dry tresses and use a brush (a comb creates too tight and matted an effect) to tease sections from beneath. After a glide-over with your straightener, gently smooth with a brush and prepare to flaunt your new body.

I'll leave the teasing and style maybe for a special ocassion. My hair is quite fragile as it is with all the colouring and styling I do.

I dont think teasing my hair would work too well. Although it sounds great i think the stress i would be putting on my hair would cause all sorts of disasters, breakage etc.

I don't need to tease my hair, if I let it dry naturally it just frizzes out.

teasing my hair sends it off in a rampage, its naturally frizzy enough and has enough body on its own. i"ll leave it to the proffesionals and those with less frizz

I wouldn't even consider teasing my hair, it's so fine & damaged, it would cause a lot of knots and breakage.

The last time I tried teasing my hair, the brush got stuck! It was a bad experience and I had to cut the brush out. Not nice! But their option sounds a bit better. I will give it a go - minus the brush!

My hair = damaged. I may have to get my volume from mousse and the normal boring ways

won't risk trying this, my hair is too fine. last time i back-brushed i ended up with one side more bigger than the other, *sigh*. i'll stick to voluming mousse and blow-drying.

I love my brush. I use it all the time to get interesting looks, and half the time I don't actually know what I'm doing. I'm sure that I've tried backbrushing at some point though =]

some hair-stylists have thought this a great idea on my hair after I've had it cut or coloured, but then they weren't the ones who had to try and brush it out at home and had to witness all of the breakage... there went all that money I spent on expensive treatments and time taken to treat my hair gently and keep styling to a minimum!
my current hair-stylist has somehow managed to add long layers to the hair that grows from my crown area that give a lot of body to my otherwise long lank hair, I just need to finger-tousle with a bit of product to give me this teased look... :)

Sounds like a handy tip to remember. Not sure how my hair would cope with the teasing though lol.

I quite Regulary tease the roots (On the Top) of my head for more volume.. gives that extra Oomph that you dont get from straightening

I spend all my life trying to find the best way to straighten my hair. Any time there is any curl / frizz I am desperate to straighten my hair

My hair is pretty flat and dull but I don't mind teasing it a little bit. The best way to un-tease it properly is to wash your hair and put conditioner in FIRST, let it stay for about 3-4 mins and rinse, it should give you a good result.
Also don't put too much product in your hair.
When I want a "boof" top just pin the sides to the middle and then brush your middle (back) up and pin it on top of the other pins(from the side) but make sure you have a bit of "oomph". Then hairspray! Or straighten it towards the ceiling and hairspray.
Sorry long post, and probably pointless because I didn't explain it properly but yea, better to pin than to tease and ruin.
