Topic: Health & wellbeing / menstrual cups

This is the first I have ever heard about these! I’m very curious now.
From the sounds of them they are a great thing!

This was where I first heard of menstrual cups, I was grossed out but curious, then I bought one. LOVE IT!

Oonga: great article!

I don’t know why it is like that. A lot of people do react disgusted when they hear about cups!
I’ve been called a disgusting hippy. LOL. but I actually think it is pads & tampons that are disgusting now.

overall I think its been a really positive thing to experience and I do wish more people would be more open to it.
It has completely changed my periods for the better.
plus, I’ve learnt about my body and I feel more comfortable and open minded about things.
:)

oonga thankyou for sharing. I checked out the charity and donated. what a great cause :)

I have recently become addicted to polymer clay! I am having so much fun creating my own jewellery. here are some things I’ve made so far.
I have since applied a glaze to the eyeball in the ring and it looks even better! :)

Try straight coconut oil instead of a hair mask then. Cheaper and economical plus it really will help.
otherwise if you are looking for something really good I always use the moroccan oil deep moisture repair mask that I get from my hair dressers every time I colour. Smells good and you really feel the difference.

I’ve been using Paula’s choice 8% AHA gell for about a month, and I do think it helps a little. For the best results though, I imagine you’ll need to see a derm for some peels. I plan to get them done as soon as I can afford it!

I’m a big fan of Physicians Formula, but they’re made in US. I’ve been thinking about trying MOMMA because they’re Aussie. My skin’s not sensitive though. Try a few samples or testers before you buy anything.

Topic: Anything but beauty / Best places to buy dresses?

Hi ladies! thanks for the amazing suggestions. As I didn’t have much time, I ran around and had a look at some local stores.
I managed to find a nice little LBD (my first LBD if you can believe it) at Dotti is was 50% off so I go it for $13, bargain! It’s velvet ‘skater dress’ with lace around the neck and chest area.

Loving Dotti at the moment, last week I purchased heaps of cute tops for $6!!!!
If you are near a store called VALLEY Girl they always have great stuff too and accessories.

I am still trying to find the perfect shampoo/conditioner that doesn’t contain any sulphur. Have tried a few but they aren’t great for long term for my hair.
I was also going to say a really nice pink lipgloss but just before Christmas I found a Revlon lippy and love, love, love that. Must find time to review it too.

I love the idea of preparing a home cooked dinner, very cute and clever if you are on a limited budget.

If you want to show him you love and care him then you should personalize your gift so it creates a pleasant memory for him and shows that you know him well..it doesn’t necessarily have to something expensive or tangible because it should be your thought that counts.
If he likes art then you could take him to a gallery. If he’s into music then you can check to see if any of his favorite artists are touring in your area. If he is a bit of a thrill seeker then you can try something like bungee jumping, hiking, surf classes etc. You can prepare a picnic in a scenic part of your city if he enjoys nature and is outdoorsy.
There’s so many different ideas and lots of time, good luck and I am sure you will find the perfect gift! :)

Topic: Hair / Short hair? πŸ‘ or πŸ‘Ž?

I second Katie re: washing your hair. I only do mine once a week, despite having oily-looking roots/dry ends. They say it’s best not to over wash it anyway as you strip your hair of all the natural oils and given that my hair is dyed (nothing crazy, just a rich chocolate brown since I’m a natural brunette trying to hide her premature greys), I don’t want to strip the colour too much.

Back in my teens, I cut my hair short (well, bob length short) after home dyeing it twice within the space of about 3 months, only to have my hair look like straw because I didn’t look after it properly. Mind you, I wanted to see what I looked like with short hair too, so having it cut shorter satisfied my curiosity. I kind of liked it for a while, but eventually I grew it out. I can’t remember how long it took me, but it definitely wasn’t 3 years – the last time I had it cut short (about 3 years ago and again, a bob style) it took about 12-18 months to grow back to the length I wanted it, which might be a bit slow, I’m not sure. My hair grew fast to my shoulders, but getting it past my collarbone took forever. I grew it back the 2nd time around because, again, I got bored of it & wanted the length back so I could play with my hair. Right now my hair is about armpit length. I’ve had it longer recently, but having chest-length hair for me is a bit of a pain as my hair tends to get really knotty & heavy after a while.

I say don’t be scared to go there! Going to a hairdresser first for the cut is a great idea. Getting tips from them about styling it & also what sort of cut will suit your face shape & hair type is also a great idea. If you have a look that you’re after, take some photos with you to the hairdresser so that they have a guide of what you want. I’ve done that twice & I’ve been happy with the results I got….except I didn’t bother keeping up with all the styling stuff I admit. Looking after it with a great shampoo & conditioner is important, as well as a hair mask & heat protection products if you like to heat style your hair.

I always feel horrible washing my hair, I know it gets gross and oily but it’s so unhealthy and cruel to your hair! I haven’t used heat at all in a very long time, I actually had a dream I was straightening my hair, I told my mum about it and how I woke up freaking out and she didnt understand the fuss at all. But I never style my hair I always let it air dry and leave it as is. And try not to brush it or tug at it too much. I’ve let it do that for about a year but I’ve cut it since. Aaand it only ever grew to my armpits until I realised it was below my bust and stupidly thought I’d bleach it. So upsetting! I’ve tried a hair mask before but it didnt do much at all.

Topic: Hair / Short hair? πŸ‘ or πŸ‘Ž?

I had to cut my waist length hair to my shoulders about 2 years ago because it had become unmanageably dry and straw like and had way too many split ends (all this from using too many heated tools, too much time in the sun, a bad diet etc.). Like yourself I was quiet hesitant to do so because I really feared that it wouldn’t grow back. For the first 6 months I was really stressed about it and couldn’t stop measuring my hair almost everyday. But after a while I gave up focusing on it so much and just turned my attention to ensuring I used quality products, treated it regularly to masks and consumed a healthy and balanced diet. Now it’s somewhere between my chest and waist and working its way to original length :)
Don’t stress about this too much… your hair is and will always continue to grow, it’s just a question of how fast it will grow and this depends on how well you look after your hair as well as your own health and body in general.

Also, coconut oil will work wonders for your hair.. As of late I use it as a mask about every 4-5 days and leave it for about half an hour before showering and my hair has grown a few inches already!
