Hoping my special forum family are feeling as OK as you can. Thinking especially of a few of you : cat lover – have you moved yet? Hope all goes well. I wouldn’t be able to settle until it was all over and I don’t have major health issues so can only imagine how difficult it must be for you.

Special little horse or pony – Smiling Fili I giggle every time I see the section of your “name” that comes out now! Do hope you are doing as well as you appear to be and that you aren’t forgetting to take care of yourself.

Ina so pleased Jaffa is much better. Our collective healing thoughts are with you for your surgical procedure. Have a lovely holiday – you really deserve it.

Pink Hornet, Indie, Roxy, CherryBlossom you’re all so supportive of everyone and such darling people to care as you do when you have problems of your own. Hope you’re all OK.

My darling friend, jatz who has very recently become a Grandmother – you never, ever complain and live with health issues daily. Please look after yourself.

I can’t imagine not being able to come in here and gain inspiration and strength from all the beautiful people who come into this particular thread. You are all very special. Take care and know we do care about you all, those I’ve mentioned and those I haven’t mentioned by name but I include you too. With love.

Hi Trish! I’ve found out that I won’t need to move for a while yet, which is good for me financially. It will be nice though when I eventually move into a place that’s really mine. Clive and I send our love to you and the kitties. Thank you for thinking of me sweet lady xx

Am just reading now…….yay, you won’t have to move for a while…..that is great news :-)

Topic: Hair / Dry Itchy Scalp & Very Oily Roots HELP

Wow, nowadays i keep hearing about Oily scalp. Guess its so common. Even my best friend had it.

But after my friend tried Sara Shantelle’s Head CPR hair shampoo. She used to wash her hair like 3-4 times a week last time, now washes like only twice. Her dandruff has also significantly reduced. She also has colored hair.

Hope you give it a try!

Topic: Health & wellbeing / Lift Esteem

Hi everyone, It’s been refreshing to read some of the recent posts here and see how much love and support abounds here. I have been dealing with a large amount of loss and grief over the last 2 months (loved one passing, grandparent very unwell, stroke, ICU… all unexpected sorts) amongst some other major life changes and today feels like I have hit my wall. I’m emotionally so exhausted and though i’m trying to stay well I know i’m physically drained too. Any tips for helping to manage the stress, grief and feelings of loss would be appreciated. I searched some threads but didn’t really see one about loss. At the moment supporting a family member through major illness with a prognosis that is not positive is really hard, especially with them being hospitalised a 2hr+ drive each way. Its super hard trying to find balance, and I find myself questioning myself when I say no to something relating to them and feeling guilty for saying no, even though I know thats the right response on occasion. I’m in a constant fight or flight mode from all the craziness and am not sure how to find peace and calm. I do meditate, am trying to eat healthier etc as i’m concerned if I don’t step back and take stock now depression is knocking at my door. I battle my own health issues daily and all these losses are just wearing me down at the moment. Sorry to be a downer, just could use some sensible advice from others that have been in similar situations. ♥

Hi Goddessmagick it sure sounds like an overwhelming time your going through. I’m so impressed with what your already doing…staying mindful of the moment, looking after yourself by eating well and doing yoga/meditation, those are all such positive things and things that often people in your circumstances don’t do so your doing incredibly well even if it doesn’t seem like it at times. As others have said, it’s ok to say no. You can’t feel guilty when so many of the things happening are out of your control however we so often expect ourselves to be able to keep on going and commit to way more than our bodies and minds can cope with.
Loss is hard. No matter how long it’s been. As others have said, everyone grieves differently and there are no rules. Allow yourself time. Be gentle on yourself. Allow yourself to feel the loss and sadness. My dad has been chronically ill for over ten years and one week before I had to have surgery that I only had a 20-30% chance of surviving he had a stroke. He didn’t want to go to hospital as he wanted to be there for me. I convinced him to go. It was so hard going into surgery and for the first time in my life I didn’t have my parents at my side and it wasn’t guaranteed that he would be around when I would finally be able to see him. It was hard, I wanted to not have the surgery so I could be by his side and felt incredible guilt to choose to go ahead with it with all the unknowns. I have felt guilt since thinking his stroke was brought on by stressing about me. My rational side tells me I shoukdnt feel guilt and as time goes on that feeling has lessened but at the time it was very intense and very real. (I’m also not writing this as oh woe poor me, just as another example of guilt and feeling torn.) My dad passed two years and one month ago and I still feel the loss each and every day. I cried every day for almost a year and a half and then I found I had some days where I didn’t and slowly instead of feeling total sadness when I think of him, I have times I can think of him and smile or have a laugh at the great memories I hold in my heart.
I watched my mum and sister run themselves into the ground ensuring they were with him every second and unfortunately he expected it and was quite demanding expecting mum ESP to be there all the time. She didn’t miss a day and it took a huge toll on her and still has to this day. If only she had said no just a few times for some time out I am sure she wouldn’t have been so run down and had the effects of being so run down up until recently.
I understand you want to spend time with your grandparent and it’s beautiful that you do as many grandkids wouldn’t. Sadly some people can become quite demanding (not saying UR grandparent is) but incase that is an issue well that’s when you need to stick to ur ‘balance plan’ – Really focus on balance.
Perhaps you could write a list of priorities to help you cope with the overload of things demanding your attention. And include in that list times for you. Like ur pamper time. Staying in the moment and understanding the real importance of not catastrphising things are so positive!! I feel from what You have said you have been dealing with things so positively. As Catlover said its times like this you can rely on things that aren’t healthy and can end in really negative long term impacts on your life. Also seeing a Dr can be helpful whether it be for some counselling of sorts or to get some short term medication to help with the overwhelmimg time.
I’m not sure in all my babble if I’ve really addressed your issues, esp that of grief and loss. However it is a personal thing as another lovely here described well with no set rules or time limits. It’s ok to say NO. When you get asked to do something extra instead of allowing the auto pilot to kick in and say yes..stop..think…and if and only if your able to do it or commit to it, make your decision based on ur needs also. I know for myself as pink hornet said, as a patient its aweful to see a visitor turn up because they feel they HAVE to as you can see the exhaustion all over their face and I sent my mum home each time she came as I knew she was there cos she felt she had to and she had to much on with dad. Like I said above none of what I have said is ‘oh woe poor me’ just another example like the other lovelies have described hoping our hindsight of sorts can be of some help! Well done hun on eating well and doing some positive things for yourself. Learn to say no to some things and get that balance back and even tho U will still be facing aweful and stressful things, U will face them being more centred and in control. Balance. Thinking of you xxxx

Hey Mummas and Mummas To Be!
I’d really love to see a piece done on snacking well during breastfeeding, I had forgotten how hungry you get!
Bit of background info – after my first daughter, I gained 24kgs and ended up back at full term pregnancy weight because of my snack choices. Mind you, I didn’t exercise or anything. I’m planning to get back into my exercise as of tomorrow (Luna will be 5 weeks old, so of course I still need to take it easy and start off slow) which I’m excited about. I only have a few kilos to shed thankfully but want to get on top of it now and get my eating habits right. Finding easy, grab and go healthy snacks that actually fill me up is proving difficult. Luna pretty much sleeps in my arms all day so I need stuff that I can possibly prepare at night and is easy to grab during the day. If any of you ladies have any suggestions, I’m all ears! Thank you :)

Have you tried chia pudding? That’s going to be my go-to snack this time around. You’ll need 1 cup of milk (coconut is my favourite but almond is good too), 1 cup of plain yogurt, 1/4 cup chia seeds, 1 teaspoon vanilla, honey or maple syrup to sweeten to taste. Mix, pour into cups and chill overnight. This will make about 4 serves.

I like to add some frozen fruit to the milk and blend it up in my blender before I add it to the rest of the ingredients. Cherry and coconut chia pudding is my favourite, but you can do mango and coconut, or cherry/strawberry/blueberry and almond milk – whatever you like. Just reduce the amount of milk by a little to account for the addition of however much fruit you want to add – so basically you want 1 cup of plain or “fruitified” milk. :)

It’s easy and delicious, plus you get some fruit, some protein, some calcium, some antioxidants, probiotics, probiotics and it’s a really satisfying snack.

I’m on pregnancy #4 and I’m wondering… Is there such a thing as TOO MUCH kicking? I honestly do not recall experiencing anywhere near as much kicking with my other babies. They were all good kickers, but this one definitely tops them all! I experienced minimal morning sickness in the first trimester (lucky me!), but now that I’m in the third trimester, I find that I’m frequently nauseous due to all the movement of the baby. I hope it slows down a bit as he starts to have less and less room to move around, but at the moment it’s agony!

I don’t care about the point, I’m just worried that I’ve done something wrong. I certainly don’t post inappropriate comments.
Perhaps it’s an article that’s been removed?

RoseP I too had a comment removed 52 mins ago and -1 point, so you are in good company! I think you are right in that perhaps a blog post has been removed but which one? Maybe they had a duplicate but I’m sure there’ll be others! I have plenty of comments in me!

My question is about post pregnancy belly, I gave birth an year ago and although I lost all my pregnancy weight I still have that loose belly hanging around, what can I do for it? Thanks

My daughter is 19 months old, I lost my pregnancy weight but I too have that loose belly still. It is getting better slowly. When I am standing everything looks fine, but when I am sitting it is not so perfect anymore. I keep on exercising, I try to work out 5 times a week, I love fitness blender and their workout, I tend to focus on the whole body, not only on my belly. I do notice a lot of changes when I exercise. I don’t think I have ever been that toned in my whole life…. well, apart from that belly of course. I can see the muscles and everything but the loose skin is still there. I do use firming body moisturiser and I guess it helps too. I started running again and this I think has had the biggest influence on my belly so far.

Thanks BH! Woohoo!

I have had happen before. Annoying if the postie forgets to leave the reminder slip in the first place.

GoddessMagick, I’m so terribly sorry to read about all that you’re going through right now. I’m not the best person to ask for advice, but I know that you should never doubt yourself when you feel that you need to say no sometimes. People know how much you care without you being there every second. It’s not selfish to have some level of self-preservation going on. If you don’t look after yourself and end up falling in a heap you’ll feel even worse.

I know exactly what it’s like having the burden of very ill relatives and being in a constant state of anxiety. Unfortunately I dealt with it by drowning myself in alcohol every night, but it sounds like you already have much healthier ways of coping. If you can, it might be a good idea to take a bubble bath in the evening or watch a favourite movie or tv show (but I know it’s even difficult to focus on that when you’re in the state you are atm). Also, don’t be afraid to visit your doctor for a chat. I’m not one to encourage the use of medication, but sometime half a Valium can help you off into a peaceful sleep at night too!

You WILL make it though the other side of this stressful time GoddessMagick, and you’ll be stronger for it. I’m glad you came in to share your worries on this thread and hope that some of the heartfelt advice the other ladies have given is of help and comfort to you xox

Topic: Anything but beauty / BH Usernames / ID......

My name is a little complicated.
The reason I chose a ‘superhero’ derivative is that I believe you can’t wait to be ‘rescued’ from your life, you need to be your own hero and save yourself.
I like the Green Hornet because he uses ingenuity and his friend, Cato, to fight injustice rather than superpowers. Hornet is not dissimilar to my name and Pink is my favourite colour. I had an apartment that was affectionately referred to as the Pyrmont Barbie Pink Palace.
I also like that Hornet has a buzz about it.
I overthink stuff, lol. :-D

You most definitely DON’T overthink, Pink Hornet – your “additional thinking” just adds to your loveliness. Love the concept behind your “name” and that you could actually think about it before you made the decision – I just go blank at times like that!!!

CherryBlossom your name matches your beautiful personality beautifully. Giggling at the coffee table reference!

Topic: Hands & feet / What are you looking for?

Super keen for advice on what vitamin/supplements are great for nails. I have some really problematic ridges and thin, breaking nails at the moment (due to health related issues) and would love to know which vitamins most people have had success with. Eg zinc, magnesium?

GoddessMagick, you are probably going to have problems with your nails no matter what because of the issues you’re dealing with. I was really ill last February and my excellent pharmacist suggested Blackmore’s one a day nail and skin vitamins. They are only now starting to recover. Don’t forget that the nail has to grow out completely before they will totally recover. I take these in addition to my multi vitamin tabs.
