Topic: Make-up / online cosmetic shopping

Kylie, brands such as Maybelline and Revlon are often on sale in Australia. Priceline just had a 40% off sale. If you sign up to receive emails from ozsale.com.au, they often have discounts on L’oreal, Maybelline etc. There is an online store called glossi.com.au that sells discontinued stock from these brands.

For brands such as Milani and Wet N Wild, you can shop at US sites such as Brigette’s Boutique, Nonpareil Boutique, Cherry Culture and Beauty Joint. There are apparently some reputable sellers on ebay. I haven’t bought from these US sites because once I factored in postage, it wasn’t worth it for me. In Australia, you can buy these brands from Crush Cosmetics and Lipstick Republic.

Topic: Make-up / Pale skin long lasting Priceline foundation?

I’m pale, but not ‘ivory’. I want a yellow based long lasting foundation that doesnt cost the earth. Help me please!

Emma, you might want to let people know your type of skin so that we can make suggestions. If you have dry skin, I could suggest foundations because my skin is dry. If you have oily/combination skin, then someone else should be able to help you. The first budget foundation that springs to my mind for you is Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation. I haven’t tried it because I suspect it won’t work on my dry skin. I would think that finding a yellow-based foundation shouldn’t be hard because most foundations look far too yellow on me. L’oreal make high quality foundations. You could try their True Match Foundation.

Topic: Industry watch / New subscription box... The Parcel

I get Bellabox but now I really want to get this one instead – it seems like better brands?!

I get Bellabox as well, but I’m so happy with The Parcel. You’re right the brands are better and The next box looks amazing, and I just saw on their website that you can buy it without a subscription.. Its like a Xmas special. http://www.theparcel.com.au/pages/sign-up-marie-claire

That’s good that they seem to have changed their minds from not having the one off box, I think it’s a great way to introduce themselves to their customers.

Meanwhile…..I’m still waiting for my first spring one off box to arrive.

Topic: Make-up / Pale skin long lasting Priceline foundation?

Petal, have you had a chance to try out the Bobbi Brown stick yet? I was Christmas shopping on Thursday and somehow ended up getting colour matched at the Lancôme counter (how does that happen, ;)) I wanted a pressed powder for touch ups and On my way! how ended up with a full face of Teint Idole Ultra 24hour which I got colour matched as 005 in. To be honest I knew I was pale but would have guessed the 010. Goes to show it pays extra bonus points to get colour matched properly. If only the counter staff at my Myer looked a bit more like they knew how to apply makeup (in the right colour) I would be after their advice all the time. My new strategy is to scope out one who looks like a) she is pale skinned herself and b) is actually wearing the right shade.

CurlFriday, I only received my Bobbi Brown foundation on Thursday, so I haven’t had a chance to try it. I will let you know what it is like once I have. Regarding the Lancome foundation, I think it could be the one that I tested. The sales assistant was extremely resistant to me trying the palest shade (like all sales assistants), but I urged her to let me try. Once I had applied it to my face, she said she was shocked that it was the right shade.

I often speak about how sales assistants always suggest darker shades for me to a friend. She said that maybe it is because so many people want that bronzed look to their skin (which I’m not into). I made a rare trip to the city recently and I went to the MAC counter to test Face & Body Foundation. I wanted to buy it in neutral, but two sales assistants insisted that I needed the more yellow-based version. I walked out there without buying a foundation.

Topic: Talkback / !! WARNING!!! HAUL:D

My mum was in singapore so I managed to get her to pick me up two lipsticks from mac for $27 each. Velvet Teddy and Creme cup. Then on Tuesday I popped into mecca after I went to priceline (bought a few things there just back ups of items) and picked up the nars tinted moisturiser and the too faced christmas set. This is such awesome value! 12 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 2 bronzers and a mini mascara. They are also individually packaged so you can gift each section individually for stocking stuffers.

Great items Rachie. I love the packaging too!

Nice haul serine. I’ve heard lots of good things about MOMMA makeup from the Discovery Bag reviews here on BH. I like the colours of the palette too.

Topic: Anything but beauty / New Day Box for Women Suffering from Domestic Violence

Cocoabutter, I can’t believe that shops would say no to donating boxes for charity! You can buy cheap decorative boxes from variety discount stores. You could also pack products inside a plain cardboard box and tie a ribbon around it.

Topic: Anything but beauty / New Day Box for Women Suffering from Domestic Violence

This is a friendly reminder about the New Day Box project. Volunteers are collecting beauty products for women that have escaped domestic violence. Here are the times and dates for when they’re collecting donations in Melbourne:

https://www.facebook.com/NewDayBoxAU

I posted all of my goodies to them today. Woo hoo!

Thanks for the reminder today. Just realise they collect on Melbourne!

For ladies who are looking for shoe boxes, you better set aside some time. I went to 5 shops and they all said no :(

hey, beautiful people of beauty heaven.
So Australia is expensive for basically just about anything!! Makeup in particular. Just wondering if any of you have any websites (that ship to Australia) that you recommend for cheap, affordable makeup. I would love to stock up on Revlon, L’Oreal, maybelline and basically anything recommend! would love to try some american brand makeup :)

Topic: Industry watch / New subscription box... The Parcel

Is this subscription box any good? Like are they all full sized products and good products?

If you read through the topic you should be able to see what people recieved in the last box. There were a few full sized products, Revlon Colour Stain Gloss and OPI nail polish.

You can find out what’s in the December Box here http://www.theparcel.com.au/pages/marie-claire-The-Summer-Edit-2015

Rose_P roid rage or brain are awful.
I have been up all night in agony with an impacted bowel. I just need things to move. I get the keys to the new house today and there is so much I should be doing. Stressed out of my gourd.
Glad you have referral to a gastro. Mine is fab and one of the reasons I have stayed in Sydney.

The hospital trip before this one was because I was impacted. It was awful!
Moving house is a painus in the anus isn’t it! Try not to stress to much. Think of moving as a new adventure. Time flies, and a month from now and it will be all over and you will be settled. Hang in there xxx.

It looks like it was stamped, but it’s calligraphy! WOW!

Thanks misfortune8
There are some stamping with Chinese characters, but I haven’t found any with these characters  first time I write hànzì with calligraphy pen too, so it’s still a bit messy :p the stampings on accent nail are picture translations of the hànzì: heart for love, four-leaf-clover for luck, smiley symbol for happiness =D
