Rosacea

I have type 1 on my cheeks and type 2 under my nose and on my chin. I was wondering what products do you recommend and use for yours? I’ve been using Rozex on but it’s not working and I feel quite self conscious as I’ve broken out really badly with it.

I have really minor rosacea (small patches on both cheeks, one more subtle than the other) and I find that being consistent with my cleansing, exfoliating and moisturising really helps. My cleanser and exfoliator are from the Sukin rosehip range and the day and night creams I use are Nivea Daily Essentials 24HR Moisture Boost.
I don’t know much about the condition so perhaps it does make total sense, but I find my redness is at its best after exfoliating. I hope you can find something that works for you!

An active ingredient that you could try would be azelaic acid which is supposed to help rosacea because it reduces inflammation (Google ‘azelaic acid rosacea’) . I only know of these products

The Ordinary Azelaic acid 10% – you’ll need to buy this from an overseas online retailer because it’s not sold in Australia

Paula’s choice 10% azelaic acid booster

Azclear medicated lotion (20% azelaic acid)

I think we are all different and what helps one person will cause a flare up for someone else. For me I always tend to hone in on products for sensitive skin especially with my cleansers. There is a brand called Savi that have some lovely gentle cleansers but sadly they are not cheap. I was lucky enough to grab several of their products as they were getting ready for new packaging and everything in the old packaging was heavily discounted. Also Dr Lewinns gentle polishing gel is awesome and a super gentle scrub that I use in the shower. Oh and speaking of the shower….dont have the water too hot even in Winter as this is something I found would flare my Rosacea instantly.

Moisturisers from brands like Cetaphil or dermaveen are great. My skin also loves Olay and Palmers moisturisers, The Palmers one is interesting as its quite heavily scented and you would think my skin would freak out but its very happy with it.

Sunscreen I love the Neutrogena Dry Touch. Sunscreens that are overly oily freak my skin out and burn.

Good luck with it. Its the bane of my life.

My mum’s got rosacea. She says that sometimes, her cheeks hurt so much they feel like they’re going to bleed!

She swears by Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear. She says the zinc soothes the pain. She sits at night watching TV applying her IZ, so she doesn’t just use it as makeup.

It’s listed on Bh here: beautyheaven.com.au/makeup/foundation-primer/29098-invisible-zinc-tinted-daywear-anti-ageing-facial-moisturising-sunscreen-spf-30-
