What’s Your Unconventional Beauty Secret?

Today my friend tagged me in a post on Marie Claire about using nipple balm as lip balm. I have been using the product for a while now and it never occurred to me that I should share this amazing unconventional product with all of you!

I use Laninoh nipple balm (it’s pretty cheap too) and it is amazing, sometimes I get chapped flakey lips when my iron levels drop and it has taken weeks to heal properly. After using this they heal within 1-2 days.

I have included the review if anyone wants to take a look 🙂 http://www.marieclaire.com/beauty/news/a14567/dr-lipps-nipple-balm-review/?src=spr_FBPAGE&spr_id=1449_211151246

One that I gave in a separate forum (http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/forums/help-ive-got-a-beauty-dilemma/when-beauty-addicts-go-camping?page=1#comment-2123561) was:

Vitamin E ampoules as a great easy to pack alternative to facial oil. So long as you have a needle or a pin, these are great for travelling. Simply pierce and apply.

That’s a good one Beautiful duckling. Love the smell of it when someone in the sauna pours pours the oil diluted with water over the hot coals. Must try it in my shower. Thanks for the tip

Whenever I have a case of stuffy nose (cold, flu, sinus, etc.), I’ll sprinkle some eucalyptus oil on the bottom of my shower so the hot water turns it into a nice instant steam that goes right up my nose. Whilst it’s not a 100% beauty trick, it sure does help out. And hey, it’s antibacterial too.

I’ll be dropping these in as I remember them!

I don’t have any beauty secrets but I did recently buy a bottle of plain macadamia oil from the health food shop and also have a bottle of sweet almond oil and lots of essential oils. I have an empty glass spray bottle and some empty glass dropper bottles so might have a play and make up some of my own mixes 🙂

I bought an Australis velourlips in a nipple brown colour. Everybody’s wearing nude lips, but it just didn’t suit me AT ALL! I used it up as a lower lash eyeliner. It worked really well until I dropped the tube & it split.

Shaving: I usually epilate, but if I shave, I use fragrance-free sorbolene in the shower as shaving cream. It’s important that you use fragrance-free, otherwise you get red bumps.

Hair mask or deep conditioners: apply, then plait hair & sleep with it in. Wash out next morning.

Put a cheap sink strainer in the shower to catch hair when you wash hair (my hair is long & I’ve previously clogged drains with my hair).

Don’t step out of the shower recess to dry yourself, you soak the entire bathroom floor! Dry yourself in the shower, throw your towel onto the bathroom floor then step onto it & dry your feet.

Don’t use regular bath mats, use a rubber door mat in the shower. Regular bath mats tear when you pull them up to drain, the suction pads come off. I’ve had my black rubber door mat for a couple of years, it never slips.

I’ve used conditioner as shaving cream for my legs before. Kept them hydrated, soft and smooth. I have also used a clean mascara wand to help tame frizz. Just doused it with hairspray and combed it over the top of my hair.

When I have a nasty pimple coming up I pop some Vicks Vapour Rub onto the spot and the next morning the swelling is almost gone. All it takes is a tiny amount overnight and the little rotter is gone. I wouldn’t recommend doing it multiple times in a row as you could end up with angry red skin. But for a one off it works a treat.

I use tube lip balm on eczema spots. And before i do a manicure i wipe my nail with polish remover to make my mani last longer, i have so many other tricks but i cant remember them yet.

I recently bought a conditioner that did nothing for my hair so I’ve been using it as a shaving cream on my legs to use it up – it’s lovely and thick and pretty similar in consistency to TriShave so I thought – why not!
