I’ve hit pan! Products I’ve used (or nearly used up)

So you may have seen this on YouTube however why not here on BH as a forum? Perhaps it’s on here, however I thought I might start it up separately. I realised the other day I have a pile of products I’ve either completely used up, or am about to finish using, and I haven’t even reviewed them! So, here’s your chance to share. What product have you “hit pan” on (or where you see the bottom)? What have you used most? Why? Would you get it again? Did you review it? Why? Why not? Why do you keep going back to the same old thing? Is it pure habit, or is it really that fabulous? Share the love with your BH friends

Well, I’ve just finished my much loved Redken Real Control Overnight Treat. It was hitting rock bottom but it is now officially over. I went to review it today and (sniff) it’s not on BH!!! Tears! The packaging has since changed, so yes, I’ve had this one for a little while, only because I purchased a few tubes, however it was such a wonderful relationship. I would put it on after washing my hair and towelling dry. It was a wonderful leave in treatment. I think I prefer the creamier ones to the spray in versions. So, goodbye my friend, until I buy you again.

*TheUglyDuckling*, I’m wondering whether your TRESemmé shampoo contains protein because this can be drying. Last year I used a protein treatment and conditioner and both made my hair brittle and straw-like. Since then I avoid hair products that contain protein high up in the ingredients list. It’s a difficult ingredient to avoid because it is in almost everything. The other possibility is that the surfactants in your shampoo are too drying. I mainly use sulphate-free shampoos, but ironically a few of them feel like they strip my hair.

I have found all of the TRESemmé shampoos are too watery, which makes it feel like my scalp isn’t get cleaned properly. However, I’ve had great success with all of their conditioners for my really dry hair. Last year I went silicone-free, and I’ve been using TRESemmé Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner, and it’s a fabulous conditioner.

Hey *Petal* it’s a possibility however it depends on how you use a protein product. You really have to leave the conditioners in like a mask and use heat or trap heat in order for them to be effective (i.e. glad wrap or an old shower cap and then wrap a towel around your head). It takes a silly amount of time, I recommend an additional half an hour, and then you have to rinse it out, but it is worth the effort. Otherwise the protein does not have time to activate. This is all the more pertinent for natural hair treatments with proteins.

For yourself and *Cocoabutter*, I ended up writing a review on the shampoo, and it was negative. I felt so bad doing it but I did not have a good time with this product! This is not to say other BH-ers out there would not enjoy it. I think it would be good for those with natural (i.e. non-coloured) hair. The runny consistency was also in my review, and the fact that your head needs to be saturated as the product doesn’t seem to like to spread once its on wet hair (it doesn’t like to spread to a dry patch).

I need to find myself a good alternative to Redken, as the cost is just killing me! lol

I quite like Organix, the blue bottle.

TheUglyDuckling, when I used the natural protein treatment, I used a shower cap over it. Since that experience, I found two hairdressers that confirmed that protein isn’t suitable for my hair.

Almost out of my MOR Marshmellow perfume. That’s a must repurchase for me.

I’ve got one that I’m possibly going to write a bit of a negative review on: TRESemme Naturals Radiant Care Shampoo (for Normal hair). I’ve nearly finished it however my hair has never really had split ends like this before. My hair feels like straw! And it’s such a shame as it promotes itself as a more economical ‘professional’ product, which is why I thought I’ll give it a go instead of my usual Redken! You can see from the bottle that it’s had its time in my shower but it’s time to go and *never* come back! Has anyone else had a tough time with TRESemme? Their styling products aren’t too bad but this was just woeful 🙁

Yea i used TRESemme shampoo and conditioner together before and made my hair really dry. I suspect the conditioner is too runny and not moisturising at all. Cos I go thru it really quick

I was kind of sad tonight. I went to review two of my completely used up products I would (and have since) repurchase/d and they’re not listed!!! MOR Orange Blossom Body Wash (I also have the body lotion but I’m still going on that one), and the Davroe Hair Wellness Replenish Mask. Waaa 🙁

Argh, this is just the worst! It sucks when you have so much to say about something but then you find out its not listed here on BH.. especially when its something you really enjoyed using and you’ve got a tonne of good stuff to say about it 🙁

I was a bit bummed, especially because they’re both quite good!

My Australis Fresh and Flawless pressed powder! I swear I go through these so quickly…. anyone else have the same problem? I must be on my fifth or sixth compact by now!
