Your beauty bucket list

Your beauty bucket list

As beauty lovers, it is our right – nay, our duty – to experiment. After all, if it weren’t for my curiousity, I may never have discovered my love of M.A.C Rebel lipstick, or the fact that I cannot pull off pastel hair (no I mean, I really can’t – it ended about as badly as this):

Nevertheless, I tried it, and know for certain now that I’m a brown-haired kinda gal, through and through. So, with that in mind, here are nine things every girl needs to try once in her life – because how else are you supposed to find out what you can get away with (and what you really, really can’t)?

Find the perfect red lipstick

A show of hands, please: how many of you have swiped on countless shades of red in a bid to find the perfect one? This is one of beauty’s biggest trials, but once you find the lippy that was made for you, you’re set for life. So, where to start? First up, narrow down the choices. Different shades of red suit particular skin tones, so spend some time at the make-up counters knocking out contenders. Yep, sorry ladies – you’ll have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the one.

Succeed in self-tanning

Eight: The number of times I’ve tried self-tan.
Eight: The number of times I’ve left the house with streaky tan lines and orange knuckles.
Getting a flawless fake tan is high on the beauty bucket list, and it’s actually very achievable – if you know the golden rules. That’s where we come in! Find out how to get a natural glow (sans the streaks) here. Make it your prerogative to apply tan without fear, and never never be the girl in the jumper on a 30 degree day again.

Discover your signature scent

If the thought of finding the perfume that embodies what you’re all about sounds completely overwhelming – don’t flip out, because it’s easier than you think. Let me explain: limiting yourself to just one fragrance is like wearing the same outfit everyday. It’s just not an option, ladies. Spread the love, and experiment with different fragrances for different occasions. Our advice? Have a go-to fragrance you can rely on and wear on a day-to-day basis, but don’t be afraid to mix it up whenever the mood strikes. If you’re looking for a new scent, keep an eye out for these ones hitting shelves throughout February.
