For me it is belt and braces. The older you get the more you have to take care of your skin so I clean, tone, wash then apply Vit E oil around eyes and liberally on neck then put my Monsia night repair cream.

I don’t understand why people continue to think that your skin repairs itself or your skin regenerates and Detox’s itself when such things don’t exist.at night …. You body is doing this 24 hours a day.
I dont believe in night cream because of this but I use one or more active ingredients only because I feel I’m not in the sun and environment and the ingredients might get a bit more of a chance to absorb.
I think that night creams usually have higher doses of ingredients but there not necessary in my opinion.

I’ve loved reading other people’s opinion on this!

I dont understand why my comment was seen as rude and I’m sorry if you took it like that. I was just mentioning that your skin does not know what time it is, it doesn’t detox itself at night and so I was saying that it wouldn’t know if you put night cream on at day or night. You skin doesn’t detox or change at night.
Your skin is repairing it’s self and producing skin cells every nanosecond of the day night and day.
I dont believe my comment was rude I said I didn’t understand why people believe that a cream labed night cream was so beneficial.
I was meaning that it can be a waste of money.
There are numerous studies in skin research about this.
I never said anything about sleep or rest that’s different. Or body! Of course you need sleep.
I also said that a night cream could be used but what I meant was don’t be abused by the hype and industry.
I am surprised at such anger and rage at my initial comment.
Apologies if people really got offended

I agree with most of the comments. I have oily-combination skin so night cream (especially in QLD hot and humid weather when I sweat during sleep and it just slides off onto my pillow! *gross) isn’t for me.

I prefer a good serum or facial oil.

Well I couldn’t get the people for plants night cream after all but thanks for the heads up about the smell! I smelt a couple of things that were truly horrendous yesterday, so I really appreciate when testers are available and try out potential product additions whenever possible.

I agree with many of the ladies here, ultimately it depends on your skin type (and age too) and you don’t really have to buy a ‘night cream’ to use at night.

Having said that, I do use a separate night cream + serum/facial oil at night. I use a lighter moisturiser + serum/facial oil during the day. Alternatively, you could try ones labelled as ‘day and night cream’ – I have recently used up the Innoxa sensitive day and night cream and L’oreal Paris revitalift day and night cream, and I like both. The Innoxa one is a bit better because it’s fragrance-free, but both are gentle on my sensitive skin

Well I’m going to pick up a night cream today, probably the People for plants one, it has good reviews on here. I have suddenly got two attractively symmetrical pimples on my lower cheeks, not sure if that’s from the oil plus oily moisturiser, but might save that one (the dr lewinns) for serious skin repair, I think it’s a bit rich for me to use nightly. I have so many annoying skin complaints but pimples was never really one of them, it’s so frustrating to get them from trying new products (though I’m over the moon to be free of my ridiculous forehead bumps, you know the ones that are just permanent and skin coloured? They go by many names). Anyway, I’m babbling due to no sleep but about to get ready to go nuts in Priceline (already have my plan of a box of smarties to keep my little one amused in place) and shopping in general, thankyou ATO.

Well my mum suffers from rosacea and breakouts and I discovered that she hasn’t been putting anything on her skin at night. So I put her on a routine of Antipodes Apostle Skin Brightening Serum followed by Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream and the results have been absolutely AMAZING. Mum’s skin has never looked better. Her breakouts have completely disappeared, redness around her nose is gone and her skin looks hydrated and glowing. My mum is thrilled – so I would say the evidence speaks for itself. Night time is a great opportunity to use products (such as facial oils or specialist treatments) that might not be practical during the day (for example under makeup). I absolutely advocate night cream/serums for effective skin repair and I do feel the older you get, the more important a good skincare routine at night becomes.

I believe that night cream is essential. As they work while we are asleep and stress free. I personally use cream and that has made my skin flawless. So i prefer a cream which gets easily absorbed on the skin.
