Do ‘selfies’ lead to plastic surgery?

Hi Beauties!

Have you ever taken a ‘selfie’?

According to an article by The Daily Mail, the rise of the ‘selfie’ is coinciding with a rise in plastic surgery. They are claiming that by taking photos on their smart phones, people are taking a closer look at their appearance and after not liking what they’re seeing, undergoing surgery to change it.

So I want to know, do you take selfies? And if yes, does the photo make you feel better or worse about your appearance?

Like I said in the other topic, I rarely take selfies because I feel like an idiot holding my phone/camera in front of my face, but when I do, I usually feel worse. I’m just not very photogenic, that’s all. I look better in real life (so says my mirror).
Occasionally I do get a good pic though and it usually stays as my FB profile photo for months and months haha.

Having plastic surgery just to get the perfect photo is a bit too extreme and pointless.

I took a selfie sometimes, Most of the time it makes me feel better about my appearance. That’s because i usually take a selfie when i think my makeup looks good. When i feel tired and i know that my face looks dull, i simply don’t take a selfie. I will never go on a plastic surgery, simply because i’m terrified of needles! and I have a husband, family and friends who love me for the way i am, why would i change a thing? 🙂

I take selfies from time to time and yes something I look at those pictures and feel worse, but I just tell my myself everyone has days where they look tired and not so great. I dont feel the need to resort to plastic surgery. There are also days when I feel like I have good photos, or look good in the mirror, so I like to take a selfie then sometimes.

I take a “selfie” now and then on my digital camera but it is only because I want to post photos on BH’s EOTD Thread or see if products that I’ve been sent to trial for BH is making a difference to my skin. I feel I look much better with makeup on as I am experiencing the signs of aging but I would not go to the extent of having plastic surgery. Anyway my skin is prone to scarring easily.

I thought this topic already happened?! Hmm well actually for me unless my make up is done I always look kind of worse in the pictures I take than what I see in the mirror. So unless I’m at least a little done up no selfies 😛 And no I don’t want any kind of surgery, it hasn’t come to that yet!

I saw this topic a few days ago and noticed that “cancer awareness selfies” took over pretty quickly. I do occasionally take a selfie with my kids because there’s no one else to take a picture if I don’t do it. I take horrible photos, so I gave up on looking good in photos a long time ago. Occasionally I get a good snap, and that’s a bonus! But at the end of the day – who cares! I sure don’t. I’m married with kids and they all know what I look like, so not such a big deal for me. The photo just confirms what I already know – photos just aren’t my thing! That’s fine with me.

I think it’s a real stretch to say that selfies are causing a rise in plastic surgery. Yes, there are a lot of people out there who spend a lot of time and energy trying to look a certain way, and those people probably take a lot of selfies. Also, those people were probably going to get plastic surgery anyway, so…

I take selfies from time to time. I like what I see and no way would I jump to having plastic surgery if there was one minor thing I wasn’t happy about. Plastic surgery is not only expensive, but it’s an addiction. Once a part of you is improved, you want to improve every other part of you and you lose a part of yourself. You’re not your natural you anymore.
