Clinique

Now so many beauty bloggers, gurus and just everyone in general tend to rave about Clinique.
But now that a lot of people get sponsored by companies to do reviews its hard to get a truthful opinion.
Also I know that the FTC have a disclaimer law now but according to some reports not all people have been following the rules.
So is Clinique really amazing or is it just all excessive hype?

I love their Repairwear laser focus serum and have used it for years. I tend to buy it when they have a GWP so I get the chance to try out some of their other products as well. I also like their cleansers and moisturisers and lipsticks. I prefer products which are fragrance free . Clinique counters always have samples if you are wanting to try a particular product before you buy. Their products are quite expensive but they also last a long time.

Clinique TTDO cleansing balm is great, my tub lasted ages, well over 6 months.
It’s unscented and just gets in and does the job, melts off makeup without feeling harsh.

I’ve actually really loved most of the products I’ve tried from Clinique! Although the are up there in price, i hold out purchasing them until there’s a great GWP/offer.

Here’s a list of products i’ve tried and my quick thoughts:

Bottom Lash Mascara – A staple of mine for years. The majority of mascaras will smudge on my lower lash line so I always opt for this mascara to ensure that doesn’t happen.

Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator – Absolutely amazing cream with a gel like texture. Did wonders for my skin in Winter. Super hydrating but light textured and it left my skin looking and feeling amazing. Unfortunately i only had a sample pot of this and can’t justify purchasing it atm as I have so many moisturisers to use up first.

DDML+ – A great no fuss moisturiser that hydrates my normal-dry skin nicely without feeling heavy. Great base under makeup.

Moisture Surge Face Spray – I only picked this up a couple of months ago after seeing it on a Sali Hughes & Caroline Hirons video and it is one of my favourite purchases of the year! The mist is so lovely and does hydrate nicely (though it won’t compare to the hydration of a moisturiser). I use it as a toner and over my skincare regime and makeup.

Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips – A great makeup remover and it even removes Benefit’s They’re Real without fuss but it does leave a slight slippery residue on the skin (that does eventually fade away).

This forum is old but I wanted to bump this thread up… Anyone got any experience with clinique products?
I’ve found they either hit or miss… I like there’s no mineral oil or fragrance… Thoughts?
Caroline hiron and Paula rave about it…,

The clinique continuous coverage foundation is really good. It has full coverage and just stays on all day. It gives a really flawless look. It’s expensive but a great product if anyone is looking for full coverage. Mary kay is also fantastic for full coverage foundation.

    It’s cheaper online otherwise you’d pay $50.

ugh so agree. I went to a Myer one and the lady had some freakish intimidating vibe & that stupid stuck up look too!

I’m pretty disappointed after my first ever purchase Clinique late last year (on new year’s eve in fact!). I bought the redness reducing foundation, which hasn’t reduced any redness at all even after 6 months of using it, and it’s a shade or two too dark (although the shade I got was the lightest). The texture and coverage I’m happy with, but it was the colour that puts me off most (I was almost sold a darker shade, thank god I thought something looked wrong and went to a different Clinique stall later to double check).
The price is also a big turn-off. I bought a $50 powder with it (they had a GWP deal), and it’s actually inflamed my Psoriasis when I’ve dusted over it. I’ve only used it 6 or so times, but it doesn’t look returnable, and I mean it’s been 6 months, so it’s not like they’ll refund it. I just havn’t been bothered to go and ask about heir refund policies..
The ladies at the stand were also a bit off-putting, I could see one was just looking at me with that “what are you doing here?” look and smiling like she was superior or something.. I dunno.. it was quite offputting
Phew there’s my rant over and done with!
On a different note, I really like the look of their Chubby sticks! Too bad I have like 4 different lip products that I barely use anyways haha

Clinique is the first expensive skincare that I have purchased and I really like it. I find the 3-Step system works well for me. Other cheaper skincare products really dried out my skin. There are some products I don’t like i.e. the cleasning milk – it feels like its burning my skin.

I found I was attracted to Clinique because of their scientific feel, I have dry sensitive skin and Clinique seemed to target that type of skin.

I have the Superbalanced liquid foundation that I don’t really like but I love their new Superbalanced powder foundation (the one you twist and it shaves the powder). And Clinique has Chubby Sticks which I LOVE! The other Clinique product I found I love is there Cream Shaper Eye Liner – its very smooth and easy to apply.

I purchased my Clinique from the counter in Myer Bendigo and the woman (Jordy I think) who served me was extremely helpful and I didn’t find her pushy at all.

Overall like others have said there are good products and there are bad. It just depends on you and your skin type. And for the price difference all cosmetic/skincare brands seem to more expensive here compared to overseas as are most things.

PS Clinique has their promotion on at the moment that you can get a free 2 week sample of 3-Step.

I’ve never been drawn to Clinique, too sterile and white for me (maybe they think it makes them look scientific). The vibe I get from them is that they’re cold and artifical. Just a bad style I guess (or at least one that doesn’t appeal to me). Their prices are a bit out of my price range too. Product wise i’ve never heard people recommend them either.

I don’t think they’re doing too well as the Clinique counter/store in Chatswood recently closed. Maybe they make more sales in Myer & David Jones. I’ve never seen their stand alone stores/counters in shopping centres get much business.
