Clarisonic for a tween?

Hello beauties, looking for some expert opinions 😉 I have a Clarisonic Mia 2 and love it to bits. My skin has never been clearer. It’s the kind of thing I wish I had when I was younger. Which brings me to my question. I have a daughter turning 12 at the end of the year and she’s just starting to get mild breakouts on her skin which she doesn’t like. She’s very good at using a gentle cleanser and moisturiser twice a day. What are your thoughts at me buying her a Mia 2 for her birthday? Too young? Good idea? I’d love your opinions. Thankyou!

I hit puberty before everyone else at my primary school, so I got pimples & I was the only one. Looking back, they weren’t that bad, but I thought they were severe because I was the only one. If your daughter is experiencing mild breakouts & she’s good with cleansing, she sounds like she’s got the need & the level of responsibility. Good on you Naleri!

What a lovely idea Naleri. I bet she’ll love it.

Thinking back to the increasingly distant memory of my teen years I would have only two suggestions. One, make sure she knows never to share it no matter how much her bestest buddy asks… (You might not feel as strongly about that but I figure spreading bacteria is not great.) And emphasize to her that using it more frequently doesn’t mean it will become more effective.

The reason I suggest these two things is because I remember sleepovers at this age where girls would be asking to try eachother’s stuff – anything and everything beauty related and you wouldn’t want her to spread infection. Also there was a trend in my group when I was around 13 or 14 where girls who were worried about their skin would do more and more to it thinking it would be more and more effective. I was lucky in that I have dry skin which means I got through my teens relatively unscathed but one girl in my group gave herself a nasty rash by overdoing the exfoliant… yeesh!

It sounds like your daughter is pretty sensible and conscientious with her skin so maybe you wouldn’t have these problems but I thought it worth mentioning 🙂

What a great Mum you are Naleri, this will be fantastic gift for your daughter and will encourage and help her develop a good skincare routine for the rest of her life. I wish I’d looked after my skin more when I was younger especially in my teenage years.

Thanks Mezz 🙂 From what I can tell, it’s gentle enough to use on young skin. I want her to have great skin when she gets older, it’s so stressful when you have bad skin. She would really love one, she takes good care of her things. I think I will get her one! Thankyou xxx

In my humble opinion, you are never too young to clean your face! It’s great that she is in a routine of cleansing her face twice a day. I think that if she doesn’t have very sensitive skin, then she should be ok with the Mia 2. You must be a very special mum to be buying her that! Good on you! 🙂
