I use this, and after a few weeks the blackheads were easier to be removed by pore pack.

I have now used it for a few years, and I have much less blackheads than I used to. However, once I stopped using it (I didn’t bring it with me on holidays), they grow back.

I recommend oil cleansing #1. And #2 try a chemical exfoliant – glycolic acid is pretty good. Olay Night Resurfacing Elixir contains glycolic and is decent. If you’ve got large pores though, the best you can hope for is to minimize them. Good primer and foundation will hide them!

Hi Kate xo, this routine may help (no promises!). It’s using natural products rather than a skincare range as such but produces good results in most (not all people)

Try using Jojoba Oil as it is almost identical organically-speaking to sebum, which is the natural oil produced by your skin. As well as being a great natural moisturizer it can also help with acne, Jojoba Oil penetrates into the skin without clogging pores and is suitable for all skin types it contains vitamin E and antioxidants which are great for fighting aging signs and moisturizing the skin.

Studies have also shown that jojoba oil has the ability to prevent skin from becoming too oily. This is due to the fact that putting jojoba oil on our skin can trick our cells into thinking they have produced enough oil. Jojoba oil is also great for people with sensitive skin as it is very gentle.

Remove any surface dirt from your skin, then put just a few drops of jojoba oil into your hand and rub it into your skin when you start to work jojoba oil into the skin, the oil penetrates into the pores. As jojoba closely resembles your skins own oil, moisturizing with jojoba oil sends the message to your pores to stop overproducing the sebum that causing the oily skin.

Initially to get rid of the stubborn deep blackheadsclogged pores, I would recommend that you use a baking soda/jojoba/water paste with extremely gentle circular massaging motions to break up the worst blackheads. Dont overdo it, just massage in the baking soda/jojoba/water paste gently for a minute or two. Rinse with warm (not hot) water. Apply more jojoba oil and massage with a warm washcloth.

The idea is to get those plugs out (blackheads), and get the jojoba oil in there to keep the sebum liquid and flowing. This may take some time as the skin reacts to drying by pumping out oil, and the turnaround you’re going for is a natural distribution of oil which will leave your skin soft and balanced.

Try getting an electronic cleanser like the Clarisonic or the Olay regenerist cleanser. It’s not an instanct affect but it definitely helps!
Also I agree don’t use toothpaste it’ll just cause irritation, redness and dryness!
Try a sugar & lemon face scrub to as it helps with exfoliation 🙂

This may sound really silly, but toothpaste works wonders!
Just put it on at nigh and wash it off with a face wash in the mornings.

Also, drink a lot! That is my number one tip! The more you drink, the more your skin can refresh itself.

Glad the toothpaste worked well for you Maddie-Louise.
I had a horrible experience with toothpaste. I used toothpaste to zap out a pimple once and it literally burned my skin off. I only had in on a couple of hours and when I removed the paste, my face had a blackened burned mark. And in a few days, I actually peeled off the burned skin which had become crisp and was just dead skin. (Sorry if this sounds graphic and gross, but it wasn’t pleasant at all).

It could have just been that my face is very sensitive (it is a bit sensitive) and reacted badly to the ingredients in the toothpaste. I suggest doing a spot test first just to make sure to avoid this.

I feel your pain Kate – I too have this issue. I am very oily skin and those blackheads simply love to cluster around my nose
I have been using the Olay regenerist advanced cleansing system – I managed to get it cheap at Priceline (when they had it 50% off). Full price is about $30 – $35.
I use it every second day (while in the shower)
I use my Estee Lauder cleanser (for oily skin) rather than the product included with the system.
Since using it I have seen a HUGE difference in my skin – and the amount of blackheads have diminished immensely. I do have a few left, but my pores are looking smaller and my skin so much more healthier
