Anyone tried a strong glycolic cream?

I bought glycolix in 10%. Any suggestions on use…….how much to use, how often etc? Does it burn at first and make skin peel?

Thanks!!

I only use a glycolic cleanser these days, but I use to use MD Formulations Skin Kit, which had all glycolic products, but I use Retin-A these days so I don’t need AHA’s too much, the cleanser is more than enough for me 🙂
blackmagic are you using this cream in conjunction with your glycolic skin care products, salicylic acid and skin care peels and on a daily basis or just as a special treatment once in a while???

Yeah benzac does make you peel at first, I noticed. But after your skin gets used to it, that stops, so does the redness.

The AHA’s took a while for me to get used to. I now use ECM2 for spot treatment (benzoyl peroxide 2.5%), clear skin gel for area treatment (AHA’s), AHA cleanser, AHA exfoliator plus I recently bought a glycolic cream and I think it’s really the same kind of thing as the clear skin gel so now I’ve got two. I think the glycolic cream is stronger than the clear skin gel cos it made my skin peel next day. But no redness really, just tingling.

All these lotions and potions have been working for me thankfully 🙂 If it stops working I’ll have a look at the stop and pose but I think that’s really highly priced? I’d need to save up for that.

I have given up on lotions and potions and have started using a device called “stop”. You use it on the face and it is great for evening out skin tone and getting rid of wrinkles. I have used it for 4 weeks now and have really noticed the results. You must check it out http://www.stopandpose.com.au

OK I just used the Neostrata and while there’s a bit of tingling and a slight itch, although I am a little more sensitive atm, it’s not a burn like the Benzac and it leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised so I don’t feel that I need to use a moisturiser over the top like with Benzac. I also find that the Neostata doesn’t cause dry and and scaley skin like the Benzac. I am going to persist with the Benzac and see how it goes but will probably end up going back to the Neostrata.

Might skip the Benzac tonight as it does burn a little so might use the cleanser daily and the cream every second day until my skin gets used to it. Plus I’m still having some issues with my neck, the spots are all gone but it’s still quite red and now it’s kind of scaley so hopefully it’ll all peel then settle back down, everything just seems to make it itch =(

I was using the Neostrata just at night but if my skin flared up then I’d use it in the morning too, feels really nice on and doesn’t have the burn that I get with Benzac. Actually I still have a little bit left in the tube so might use it tonight and see how it feels.

I’m also using my Clarins Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate before applying anything else as it’s for sensitive, red skin so I’m using it to try and calm the redness.

I used the benzac for 2-3 years. At first it caused redness and irritation. After about a month of use, I had no reactions. Used it for 2 years until the acne just went away. Then the acne came back and now I’m using the asap stuff 🙂

Until recently I’d been using Neostrata’s Ultra Smoothing Cream and am really happy with it, bit of a tingle that fades fast.

I’ve just started using a Benzac cleanser and cream as I’ve had some reaction issues and terrible spots and the cleanser tingles slightly but the cream kind of burns a little but it’s bearable and fades eventually, I dont’ use the cream before heading out as it’s not an overly pleasant sensation and it can leave me a bit red. Hopefully after a while my skin will get used to it and it won’t burn anymore.

Great, the neostrata one has similar ingredients. How often did you used to use it and just a small amount?

I used to react to the asap cleanser & exfoliator but now I have no reaction at all. The salicylic acid used to cause more redness for me and now it doesn’t much anymore. My skin gets used to things I use on it within days to weeks depending on the strength.
