Am I washing my face correctly?

Hello, I want to ask about how you guys wash your face today. You all wash your face everyday, right? Of course I do everyday as well, so I haven’t thought about whether I’m washing my face in a right way or not so far. I thought that what and how to apply other skin care products after washing my face is important for my skin. However, I saw some some videos of how female celebrities with good skin wash their face, and I was surprised about how important it is to wash our face correctly and the face that actually this step really can make the better skin! I took a note of some cleansing ways that I will follow, but first of all, I’m thinking about using another cleanser. I’ve been using foam cleanser, but I want to try oil cleanser before washing with the foam cleanser (so it’ll be double cleansing) because it seems it’s better for deep cleansing and massaging my face. Does someone use oil cleanser here? What products do you use and how they are?

If I’m wearing makeup (which is most days), I use coconut oil to cleanse then I use my sukin foaming cleanser (which I use everyday morning and night).

I find coconut or jojoba oils to be my favourite oil cleansers (/all rounders – what can’t they do?). And cheaper than most others! I used to follow up with a foam cleanser as it left my skin feeling squeaky clean, but then Caroline Hirons said that was a no-no! Not sure what the rules are about posting links, but she has a useful cleansing cheat sheet here – http://www.carolinehirons.com/2011/07/cleansing-cheat-sheet.html . I don’t follow it 100% though.

I normally just use my Monsia cleanser followed by the toner but if I wear makeup then I second cleanse using jojoba oil because this removes eyeliner and mascara easily. I then follow the second cleanse rinsing my face with cool water and then toning and then applying the night repair cream and the vit E oil (to lock in the moisture).

I haven’t really heard much about oil cleansing before stumbling upon this site. Would normal coconut oil work well? I normally do a double cleanse especially if I have make up on.

Yes, that’s right! Washing our face correctly could be much more important step for skin than using an expensive skin care products. I’m using oil cleanser as well before washing with cleansing foam. I massage my whole face with the oil cleanser in a circular motion really softly to clean my pores removing the blackheads. Then I rinse with warm water, wash my face once more with foam cleanser (sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t depends on how much the oil cleanser leaves oil on my face), rinse with warm water, and what I always do at the end is washing my face with cold water (not that much cold though) to tighten the pores. Since I liked to try out new cleansers to find the best one for me, I’ve tried many oil cleansers so far. Among them, Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil was good, Murad Renewing Cleansing Oil was good as well that it was really soft. Shu Uemura Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium and Tatcha Pure Step Camellia Cleansing Oil were really good at removing makeup softly too. I really like IASO Ghassoul Black Cleansing Oil that I’m using now, it removes not only makeup but blackhead really well, so it’s the perfect one to take care of pores.
