32 weeks pregnant and still no stretch marks, am I in the clear?

From day one stretch marks have been my biggest fear (at that point I wasn’t aware of all the other pregnancy goodies I was going to receive over the next nine months)
But I am currently 32wks 2days and there’s no sign of the buggers!

I’ve read elsewhere that some ladies didn’t get any until the very end so I’m trying not to get my hopes up as of yet, but I just want to make it through the next few weeks without them making an appearance!

When did you beauties get stretch marks (if any) during your first pregnancy?

I was another who never got any stretch marks at all through my pregnancies-I am a size 10 to 12, so I thought I would surely get them, but I was lucky.

All I can say is LUCKY YOU! Haha.
I’m currently 29 weeks pregnant and have stretch marks, but I had most of them before I fell pregnant.
I can’t answer your question because I’ve never been pregnant before, but I wouldn’t count on it.
If you’re using creams/oils, I would continue to use them.
    Good luck! 🙂 x

You know the saying, “Don’t count your chickens until they’ve hatched”? Well, don’t count your stretch marks until delivery. With my first pregnancy, I had a few that I never even noticed until after my baby was born. They quickly faded and I never got any in pregnancy #2, #3 and now (hopefully) none in #4. My oldest sister got a ton! Poor thing. My other sister got zero, but she did get hemorrhoids – which I never got. And I hope I haven’t just jinxed myself because given the choice, I think I’d rather my few barely visible stretch marks than hemorrhoids any day!

Hey Jessicalee! I have had three babies and I never got any stretchmarks. So if you may just not be prone to them because of the type of stretchy skin you have like me. So you very well could be all in the clear!

    Congratulations on your pregnancy =)
Stretch marks are generally because of genetics anyway so like you have mentioned, the fact your mum didn’t get them could be a good indication that you will also be lucky and not get them.
With my first daughter, it wasn’t until the very end, about the last month, that I got them. But once I had them, I grew to love them and not be ashamed of them as they were my “battle scars” haha. I was actually sad when they started to fade! =P
Now I am 36 weeks pregnant with my second daughter and I am yet to get any new stretch marks show up, I have been really lazy with applying my Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Tummy Butter and Stretch Mark lotion this time around too haha.

    Thankyou!
I’m hoping that because my mum didn’t get any, I won’t. But still reading about the ladies that got them at the last second have given me a bit of a fright lol, seeing as lately it doesn’t seem like my small frame is coping well with all this growing.
If I do end up with stretch marks, I’m sure I won’t be as sad as I think I’m going to be. I actually received a sample tube of the cocoa butter in a bounty bag so I might lather myself up in that and cross my fingers.
I’m sure once bubs comes along stretch marks will be the last thing on my mind anyway

    Congrats on your pregnancy!

When I was pregnant last year (first pregnancy too), I didn’t get any stretch marks until around 38 weeks or so. Throughout the pregnancy I didn’t gain heaps of weight and I was still very active. But I could feel my baby boy gaining weight very quickly after 37 weeks, and it was a real struggle to do anything!

Whether or not you will get stretch marks is genetic. It depends on how stretchy your skin is, how your skin responds to weight gain/loss and hormone changes. If it happens, it happens! Thankfully my stretch marks weren’t very obvious to start with, now they’re quite faded

    Thankyou!
But oh boy does your post make my hope fade. Up until around 28 weeks or so I had a tummy but still didn’t feel very pregnant (Lack of energy, problems moving around, so on) So I thought my baby girl would come as a breeze, but these past couple weeks (days even) it’s really been hitting me hard.

I think some people are predisposed to getting them and some are not. I was lucky and didn’t get any, despite not using any special oils or lotions (not that I would advise this approach!).

As I said in my previous reply to bonnyanne, I havn’t actually been taking care of my skin as much as I should. So if I do end up with stretch marks it will probably be my own fault (lol)
Besides a few applications of bio-oil and cocoa butter I havn’t done much to avoid them.
Now that I’m thinking about it though, I might knuckle down and get to it. Better to avoid them all together than deal with them once they’re here!
