I’ve never really known what primer to buy, so I end up buying ones that are pretty average… I need everyones help. What’s your favourite primer and why??

I love the Mecca primers! A little pricier at $40 each, but I love them. My two favourite are the Soft Focus and Lit from Within. The Soft Focus is more of a matte, so works well for oily skin, while the lit from in is awesome if you want a bit more highlight. They both keep your make up on all day! would highly recommend!

I like Bare minerals primer. Right now I’m using the Loreal Base Magique primer but find it a bit too heavy.

Has anyone tried Aloe Vera gel as a primer? Or Jojoba Oil?These two make great primers as they are natural and also help the make up stay on for longer.
Also,if you are after a brand primer,I can recommend Silk Oil of Morocco’s.This one actually treats your skin as well! And I can recommend it as I have tried it myself and also sell it.They have some added specials at the moment which you can view at http://www.carmelsbeautysecrets.com.au 🙂

Just make sure you pick a primer based on what is going over it – eg water based primer goes better with a water based foundation, a wax based primer better with wax based foundation, silicone with silicone etc. Avoid ones with SPF if you have issues with pilling (makeup rubbing off in little balls). If you want ones for sweating or really oily skin then you can buy powder based primers.
There are so many brands – I personally have had a mission to find the best and I now have 12 in my collection!
My fave silicone ones are W7 Prime Magic Photo Ready (great HD one, no flash back in pictures) and Loreal Base Magique just for my fine lines only, it’s too thick and heavy on bigger areas
My fav wax based is W7 Prime & Illuminate when I use my Mehron foundation
My fav water based is Pixy, goes great under BB foundation
Too Faced Primed and Poreless is a powder based one but I don’t use it because I have dry skin so can’t use powders. -
