Tattoo eyeliner

Has anybody ever had cosmetic tattooing (specifically eyeliner) done, and what would you say about it?
I’ve heard both good and bad things.
Thank you in advance.

So far, I’ve had only my brows done. As i have pale skin and fine hair, the tattoed eyebrows gave me a big fright at first, but after 1-2 weeks they look natural and absolutely beautiful. I am so glad I did it, despite almost regretting it initially afterward…
Make sure you’re not shy in letting the tattooist know exacly what you want (even if you feel that you’re irritating her/him by checking every two minutes that they’re getting it right and making the tattoos as they should be – corresponding to the drawn on brows from the start. And make sure you’re happy with those to begin with!)
Do remember everybody has an “abnormal” AKA an “A symmetrical – or ‘Uneven’ face…” And that you’ll want to look at this properly before the measurements are done, just prior to the ink application, because what’s technically considered uneven according to the tattooist etc, will look UNEVEN when it comes to the finished product! (I had my right eyebrow taken downward at the last minute; fortunately I asked to check this … Although it’s possibly a good 3-4mm…erm…. lopsided, it at least appears to be EVEN!! Otherwise I’d put on my sunnies or reading glasses only to find that they look so crooked they’re almost diagnal or something!!)
I had mine done by a professional looking to start her very own business and therefore she needed a portfolio… She certainly was a professional with nothing but very extensive experience, yet all it cost me was just $100 for the 3+ hour procedure which would’ve ordinarily cost $400 – $600… She only needed me to pay for the cost of the materials… Soon I’ll be getting cat eyeliner done for the same price by the same lovely chick (Found her on Gumtree using keywords: Free Cosmetic Tattoo Models… Etc …)
Just go by your gut (I’ve seen terrible results from expensive professionals) and if you feel uneasy at any time, don’t be reluctant to pull out. There will be other opportunities.
Always ask questions and ask them to show you their work beforehand. Another important thing to consider that so many people overlook is that professionals never use Black ink only; at the very darkest, only a brown-black shade is used. Black all on it’s own is unfortunately (usually) a true indicator as to whether or not the artist is really experienced… And keep in mind that although these cosmetic tattoos last up to two years, they will ALWAYS vaguely be there, even like a ‘ghost imprint,’ and when pure black ink only is used on it’s own, THAT is when the tattoos will eventually result in the nasty greenish blue colour we all wonder whether it is an urban legend …
Good luck! … And don’t forget, you can get the artist to remove the tattoos (almost completely) if you’re very unhappy after 2 weeks or so when they’ve settled and you know how they’ll look from there onward.
Wow. I started this thread seeking easy answers and after two or so years I’ve finally answered my own questions.
I hope this post might be helpful in the future though for someone else who will be facing the same dilemma I was!

A close friend of mine had her eyeliner tattooed on approx 8 years ago. It always look great so i decided to go and get it done at the same place. WELL – all i can say its hands down the worst thing i have ever done. I had both top and bottom done and i can honestly say the pain was bloody terrible. I felt the gun go over my eyeball. BUT the worst part about the experience was the fact after 6 days of scabbing, the colour literally fell off !!!. Forking out $500, i rang the tattooist who couldn’t believe it happened. She asked me in and did the whole procedure again. So i went though all that pain again and guess what, it happened again. The strange thing is my body does take ink because i have body tattoos and also have my eyebrows done.

I’m getting my brows and eyeliner tattooed in November. I’ll let you know all about it and post photos too 🙂

A girlfriend of mine had brows and liner tattooed I have to be honest it looked awful and made her look very washed out if you have a pale to fair complexion I would definitely research this more, as often the tattooing needs a well made up face to complement, but that is just my opinion, what one likes another doesn’t, have fun exploring there are a lot of great artists with different techniques 🙂

Don’t worry, I would definitely have this done only by a beautician!
I don’t mind if it’s painful. I’m more focused on the result. As it lasts for about two years, I’ve heard it looks terrible in the last year when it’s faded and that the ink can go green. I really want to hear about experiences people have had with cosmetic tattooing 🙂

cosmetic tattoo needs to be done by a beautician as the needles use are different from normal tattoo. my friends have done both eyebrows and eyeliner. They love it, but said the eyeliner one is very painful.

Never had it done but golly it looks painful. I’m super keen on this new feather touch tattooing for eye brows though. Some photos on instagram are amazing. Id recommend going to a beauty tattooist not a regular tattooist.
