Spending Ban

Hi beauties. I thought to put this under Makeup because I’m currently on a makeup buying ban!
I’m wondering how everyone’s spending ban is going? I’ve managed to stay strong on my makeup buying ban and now I’ve added all beauty products because I simply don’t need anything more. I really wanted to post pictures of my collection but I’m scared of being judged!
My last purchases…
Makeup- 31st December 2012. I have been given makeup as a gift which I think is acceptable because I actually didn’t ask for it. Asking someone else to do my dirty work is also banned! Other than that I haven’t bought anything… expect that one little nail polish!
Skincare- last year during Christmas.
Bath/body products- also can’t remember, it was a while ago!
Hair care- I ordered some Macadamia natural oil mask, serum and leave in cream recently.
How about you guys? What are your reasons for spending bans?

I so badly need to go on a spending ban, but I can’t see it happening anytime soon 😐

Same. It’ll never happen for me hahaha

Roxy I’m so sorry to hear about your depression and anxiety. As someone who’s suffered with mental health issues from a young age, I can understand the impact it can have on… everything in someone’s life. I was lucky enough to find help at the right time and from the right person – it look me a while to find a counselor I gelled with but it was worth the wait.
I still see a counselor weekly because I don’t want to relapse. Things still can get tough for me but I use skills I’ve learnt over the years.

Hope you are well and feel better 🙂 hugs and kisses.

Keeping an eye on my spending is important to me for various reasons. I already have a large amount of makeup and I have vowed to go for quality rather than quantity. Skincare and bodycare are items I will buy if there is something I need to deal with (eg skincare issue that flares up). But I have plenty of items in that category and won’t need to top up for a while. I also audit my wardrobe regularly and have given many bags of items to one of my favourite charities over the past year or two. This is something that is an ongoing activity for me and I keep a bag in my wardrobe to toss anything in there that doesn’t fit me anymore or I don’t want. General living expenses have gone up a lot and I need to make sure I can pay all my bills which is another reason for watching where I spend my pennies. Not easy! It is great to have the support of others on BH.

*Lovely to see you, Roxy.* Hope all is well – we’ve missed you over on Lift Esteem. Great attitude with your spending. Take care and have a good week.

Trish, thank you for your lovely email. I haven’t been on the Lift Esteem forum for a while as I have had a bad slump with depression and anxiety. Am currently stopping some medication as it is not agreeing with me and it is rough. Will be another two weeks till I am off it completely but the side effects are not great. Will get there though! All the best to you and all my other wonderful friends. xxx

I’m not officially on a spending ban, but I honestly can’t remember the last time I went into a store and bought makeup, it’d be easily 6 months ago, and the same with skincare. I’m determined to work through fabulous products I have on hand before buying anything else.

I do get monthly beauty boxes – while I have no control over their content, I often find myself sharing items with family members and only keeping some for my own use.

My weakness in recent months has been fragrances – I’ve been buying, swapping, adding to my collection – but I’m only buying bargains ie big sale at the retailers or from Gumtree. I’ve also discovered how wonderful sites like myperfumesamples.com are, it’s enabling me to grow my fragrance choices for a very cheap price!

I won a year supply of face wipes recentlly, turns out it’s 18 packets, so definitely will have a spending ban on wipes until some time in 2016!

I am supposed to be on a spending ban. I’m not doing too well at it! So far I’ve purchased a toner, a huge pump pack of body moisturiser, a NYX make up pack and I’m sure there was something else…

I started mine because my sample section on my dressing table got out of hand. Plus, I’m unemployed at the moment (stupid depression). I went a bit over the top with spending my Christmas money and decided to reign myself in. I use buying things (and food) to suppress my emotional issues.

So I’ve been trying to do a spending ban but its not working. The 40% off skincare sale and the hair care gift bag at priceline. And the David jones beauty bag all stuffed me up 

Ashlee Ya, I saw the goodie bag at Priceline – they always have amazing goodie bags! I got the skin care one last time. This time I stayed strong.

    Trish Always so kind!

Rose I feel the same way about chocolate!!!

Claire I’m still working on pics, trying to make everything look pretty! I might as well do it right 😀 I love candles especially glasshouse – divine!
I know plenty of people who spend a lot of money on their passion which is completely fine but for me I think its wasting money when I know I already have so much stuff to last me years and I still buy more – so I must stop! And it’ll give me time to enjoy the things I have now 🙂

Roxy Quality is something I will keep in mind for my next collection. i think i would prefer great quality, high end products in a small quantity than a big collection of average or ok “drugstore” products. Also keeping a bag in your closet for stuff you don’t want is a fab idea! the stuff I want to donate usually gets mixed up or lost somewhere at the back of my wardrobe…

Vivalicious Do you mean $100 a week for all necessities or just food or “fun stuff”. I’m on the same page, I’m trying to cut down on spending money on stuff I already have a lot of.

    Li New years resolution, huh.
Good for you finishing and almost finishing that many products!
