sealing spray

i’ve just developed an interest in sealing sprays as I have extremely oily hooded eyelids and I sweat super easily during the summer.

has anyone here have any good experience with setting sprays? also how do you use it? with powders, creams etc…

i’m basically searching for ways to ‘hayfever-proof’ my makeup.

my eyes and nose get very easily runny around this time of year, every year….which let’s face it…doesn’t look pretty…

    would the sealer help?

Sorry not a rec for oily skinned people, but for dry skinned people reading this thread, I love Models Prefer Finale Spray. I find it a dupe for MAC’s Fix+, if not better!

I also use NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray. It works well, however I find that it sometimes slips and slides on my face if I use it with a primer with silicone and a foundation with spf. Just keep that in mind, otherwise it’s an amazing setting spray and is at the fraction of the price!

I’m currently spring cleaning and I came to the realisation (face palm, duck) that I have a habit of using things then for some reason I put products to the side to use something else. Whether it’s dislike, like not love, or I’m saving it for special occasions, I just haven’t used a certain item.

What I’m getting at is my Urban Decay setting spray is an item I’ve realised I have and love, but I don’t use anywhere near enough. And that is wasteful. If there are other products out there that are cheaper that match or excel the UD spray in quality and efficacy then of course I would love to know about it (who doesn’t want to save dollars), so if anyone knows of more economical alternatives, please share the product name, take a photo and post it on this forum so we can all benefit.

    Pretty please.

If you’re looking to try a setting spray but don’t want to spend too much in case it’s not right for you, maybe try the elf one. I have one, and so far it does a good job. I was going out for the whole day yesterday and have no chance to touch up at all. I had on Maybelline colour tattoo and gel liner, and a Stila blush, then sprayed it with the elf setting spray.

I came back home looking the same way I left it 15 hours earlier.

Highonlollypops: I agree with what’s been said about the doubling or tripling up of products. You should probably use BB instead of moisturiser & sunblock. If your moisturiser doesn’t have sunblock, always put sunblock over moisturiser, then foundation. If MNY Color Tattoos slide off, maybe you’re applying them too thinly? I get patchiness if I apply thinly, but they hold up well if I apply until they’re fully opaque (not too thickly).

I’d invest in two products: an eye shadow primer (I use NYX from Target, but there are many to choose from); & Face Saver (it’s like a facial antiperspirant). I bought the Face Saver from Chemist Warehouse last summer & I’ll start using it again when the weather heats up.

It’s great stuff, I wish I could review it here. I’ll repurchase mine when I run out.

    thanks!

so how do you use them?

just spraying directly onto your face? or using a brush / sponge to apply?

    or mixing with your foundation?

While I love Urban Decay I reckon you could give NYX a try! It’s $10 (1/4 of the price of UD) and it works great. I’ve only just gotten into setting sprays so the true test will be summer but it works really well so far.

Urban Decay, every time. Otherwise you can go drag and use hair spray. I’ve never done it, but apparently it works.

Australis has one that I have as a backup, but I’ve never really tested it for efficacy. I should probably do that. But I swear by Urban Decay. As in wedding makeup all day and all night swear.
