Lip conditioning

So in these cold winter months, what is everyone using to keep their lips from chapping? I tried maybelline baby lips a few weeks ago and it dried out my lips so badly. I’m now trying blistex lip conditioner which so far is doing a good job. I read on primped that the best thing to do for your lips is to put honey on them for 10 minutes but I’m yet to try that. Anyone else have some ideas or products that work well for moisturising damaged lips?

Thats a good idea. You can try other flavors too. Babylips is not a bad product.

I do have the menthol flavour babylips. Maybe I’ll try a different flavour before I write it off completely. I think I’m going to buy that palmers chocolate lip butter it sounds so good! Thanks for the tips pocketbabe, will try that.

That’s ok, good luck with your lips Lucinda27!

I get really dry lips all year round so i always need lip balms that are super moisturizing, these lip balms are good for moisturizing baby lips berry and cherry flavour, blistex intensive repair lip conditioner and carmex in that little pot is nice too.

Not so great for dry lips soft lips brand i have 3 and none last very long or give enough moisture especially for winter and Nivea hydro care’s moisture doesn’t last long enough.

Once you find a really moisturizing lip balm apply a generous amount right before you go to bed, then in the morning was off whatever is left then apply it again and trust me you will see a big difference.
Don’t let your lips get dehydrated so make sure to always have a lip balm with you so you can always reapply it during the day and drink a lot too.

I sometimes put honey on my lips when they are really dried out and i just let it sit there for a while i’m watching t.v. It’s good to even do it as like a little lip treatment for some extra moisture.

I am loving my Bloom natural lip balm and I have a couple of A’kin ones that are excellent as well. My all time favourite though is the Dermalogica Lip Complex 🙂

I’ve been using the nutrimetics intensive lip treatment for awhile now and I love it, my lips are always soft when I use this product. I was using the burt’s bees replenishing pomegranate lip balm for a little while but it doesn’t do as good a job as the nutrimetics one.
Hope you find one that works for you and that you like 🙂

I think with the Babylips it depends which one you have. I think one of the flavours is menthol, this is an alcohol, so I suppose if you found it drying on your lips this could explain why?
I’ve never tried the honey thing, but especially if it is medicinal honey I don’t see why it wouldn’t be a good idea to try. I find if my lips are extra dry I like to smooth on a bit of rosehip oil at night/day. I already use it on my face so with any residual oil on my fingers I just rub it over my lips and then apply my Burts Bees mango lip balm (that’s a very nourishing balm you can try too!). If your lips aren’t too crackled, and your skins seems like it is ready to flake. You can try gently exfoliating. Much like the skin on your face, the moisturers, serums, lip balms etc can’t penetrate and work if you have a layer of dead skin on top. So use something non-abrasive. I apply a nice thick layer of balm, let it soak for a bit (to soften and prep skin) and then take some tissue and gently rub off the flaked skin that is ready to come off. Never be too forceful, or attempt to remove skin that isn’t ready to come off by itself. Otherwise it will hurt your lips, and cause bleeding for skin that isn’t meant to be removed.

I agree. i bought the Maybelline Baby Lips and it dried out my lips too 🙁 . I love the Palmers Cocoa Butter lip butter, so smooth and creamy on the lips and the chocolate mint smell is amazing, Wow. I also slap on a Strawberry Flavoured Chapstick too, i find that it moisturises my lips with a hint of sheen.

I didn’t think babylips was too bad, I didn’t notice a drying effect but perhaps it reacts differently with different skin types etc. I’ve also used the Palmers Cocoa Butter lip butter & I agree the smell is super yummo and the texture is very nourishing.
