Have you got your Make Up Professionally done?

Hey Guys!

I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies had got your make up done professionally?
Whether in store, hired a makeup artist or had a friend who’s a make up artist do your looks.

Share and tell us your thoughts!

I heard that if you get yours done at one of the cosmetic brands’ counter (in Myer or David Jones), you get to redeem products with your money that you spent on your makeover. Has anyone done this before??

Thank you for your contributions!!

Annyex.!

I get my make-up done by MAC when I have something on, I love that you can redeem products. I have always been happy with how my make up turned out!

Hi Thought I would resurrect this thread as I need to get my makeup done at a MAC counter in Melbourne. I want to “redo” my makeup as I haven’t had advice since I was 20 and now I am 42.

I have chosen Mac as a professional makeup artist who did my makeup a couple of weeks back used it and I loved the result.

I can get Westfield, David Jones or Myer vouchers from my points so I want to use these to purchase the make up hence if anyone can advise if Myer/DJs Chadstone Southland or city is the best place to go? Of if anyone has a particular artist they have used at one of these places?

    Thanks

Yes I recently decided to get my make up done along with my hair at a salon at highpoint. I was
a little worried about letting some stranger do my make up even though they are an expert in the field.
So i showed the lady a few photos of the look i wanted which was ssomething neutral and not that cakey look. Well lets say i wish I never wasted my money on “professional makeup “.total waste, I felt like my skin was clogged up with layers of makeup and the false lashes came off as soon as i jumped in my car. The result that I ended up and what I showed the lady was completely different. But what can you say?? I went home and washed off the make up that the artist applied and along with my $100 down the drown. I re did my own make up and felt so much better, my boyfriend thought it was done professionally. So i would never get it done again. My sister went to napoleon perdis and looked lovely still a little cakey but at least she got the money back on products.

I have been using the makeover redeemable for purchase since my Year 10 formal.
Over the years I have tried Helena Rubenstein, Sheisido, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Clarins, Lancôme, Mac, Chanel, Georgio Armani and YSL.
Turn up with a clean face. I am so dry they often tone and moisturise again when I get there to achieve a flawless result. Tell them the look you want and mention any products you specifically want to try.
After the makeover let them know which products you want to purchase. You don’t have to buy any, but then you pay the service fee. So you may as well buy at least to the value of the charge.
When I have a special event, I book at a counter where I know there is a product or products I am happy to purchase. Making the process “free”.
I personally ask lots of questions and let them push my look a little. That way I find new colours, products and techniques that I would not have, had I always stuck to one look. I have run the drag queen gauntlet but it keeps me out of a rut. Personal preference, your mileage may vary.
I hope these tips are of some help.
Weekend, I hope you enjoy your makeover at Lancôme. Don’t forget to ask to try the new Grandiose Mascara. It looks awesome and Lancôme have always made good mascaras.

I’ve booked my makeup for Lancôme. Anyone visited them before? This’ll be my first time getting makeup done at the counter and I’m not too sure about what I have to do to prepare (do I moisturise as normal, do I apply the base for my face, do I buy the product before or after makeup? What are the do’s & don’t’s of interacting with artists?).

I tend to stutter when I’m anxious around new people and I’m sure I’m giving off weird vibes — which is why I’m trying to go into this as prep’d as possible. If anyone had any tips for visiting counters I’d love to hear them.

Getting your make up done for a special occasion is exciting. I have only had mine done at Mac and Chanel and I usually just cleanse, tone and moisturise before hand. You don’t need to buy any products at the start. At the end she will tell you what products she used on you and would ask what you would like to purchase. They usually recommend the lipstick so you can re-apply throughout the day but don’t feel pressured to purchase it if you don’t need a lipstick. I usually just buy one or two products and not go over the price. I would also suggest you take a photo of what you plan on wearing so they can match the make up, especially if it isn’t a black dress.

I’d just cleanse and moisturise! Did you book in for a full face of make up? Or just your eyes? I haven’t had my makeup done at a counter before (only when trying foundation) but usually you buy the make up AFTER it’s been applied, in case you don’t like it. You don’t have to buy everything they use, usually just to the value of the the application. Hopefully someone else can provide you with more information.
