Girls that wear glasses

Haven’t or couldn’t find a similar topic so if I’m doubling up I apologise. My challenge over the last year has become that I cannot see without my glasses and even an enlarged make up mirror is NOT helpful in this case.

How do you ladies apply flawless makeup without your glasses on? I do the best I can then check it 100 times in all sorts of light with my enlarged make up mirror while wearing my glasses. Main challenge is at night.

Is there an easier way? I seem to spend more time ‘checking’ than applying.

Grateful for any advice or suggestions.

Another option is to apply your makeup in sunlight or right next to a sunny window with a magnifying mirror. I find natural light helps me to see much better.

Bingo Dazza the wombat, I try this often but it doesn`t always work as I also want to wear make up on rainy days 🙂 I try to get as much natural light as possible, I even go out on the verandah to `test` the finished look. Hope your day is going well Dazza!

Simonja, I can understand where you’re coming from – I’m very short-sighted and it’s tough doing any makeup to be honest – as I apply all products minus my glasses, bar my lip products, I often find I need to re-blend my foundation in areas, or have uneven eyeshadow ie one eye has more pigment than the other for the eyeshadow

I too find night time application of makeup a definite challenge too.

What I find does work well for me, oddly enough, is applying my makeup in my car driver seat – the visor for my seat has a good size, built in mirror, and I can line myself up so I’m applying my makeup very close to the mirror, without needing to bend down, or hold a mirror. Looking up, I can easily see if I’ve missed any lashes with my mascara, or if I’ve not blended my foundation properly and so on.

I find looking up to do my makeup / check it, gives me a much better result than doing it in my bathroom or near my bedroom vanity or bending over a magnifying mirror. I’d suggest seeing if that works for you, because I can get so close to the mirror, and am looking up at it, it seems to work well for me.

Night time though, definitely no good in the car – I’m talking about when I apply makeup in daylight, sunny hours. At night the car isn’t good ie lighting insufficient – and I too would love to know how other short-sighted beauties successfully apply night time makeup

Hi Linda – now that is some snazzy advice 🙂 I do try to get as close to the bathroom mirror as possible, bending my head in every which way to see my `result` in all angles but it would have never occurred to me to apply make-up using the car`s mirror. I guess you really need to get creative in our situation. Thanks for that tip.

You can buy magnifying makeup glasses – just do a google search for these clever designs. They are cheap on ebay, less than $5 with choices of magnification. Simply flip the lens over to do each eye.

Dazza the wombat, thank you once again for your input on my query. I was aware these glasses exist in Europe but had never seen them here. My main challenge is getting my foundation blended correctly and I need to do that without wearing any glasses.

these look like a really good product, I too am very short-sighted so rely on squinting closely at the mirror currently and checking, checking, checking. I`d love to eliminate this process with an easy to use aid like these

I believe that there are specialty shops that sell 5x 10x 20x 30x magnification mirrors. Maybe even check online.

I’m really fortunate that my eyes aren’t so bad that a magnifying mirror doesn’t help, but honestly? I found one look that worked really well for me and I did it over, and over, and over again until I could pretty much do it with my eyes closed. Once I had that look down pat, I learned a new one, and did the same thing. It really is all about practice, practice, practice for me.
I also have a tendency to rock a bold lip or glowing cheeks rather than bold eye makeup, because those are things I can do without taking my glasses off.

Thanks for your comments LadyFluffyDuck. Yes, of course generally practice does make perfect but my main concern is whether my foundation, blush etc is blended correctly. I don`t wear much eye make up and like you concentrate on lips.
