Allergic to all Mascara brands -Help required.

I have tried every Mascara there is and I end up within five minutes with red sore eyes and can’t wait to remove the Mascara. Was just wondering if anyone else has this problem. Also has anyone tried dyeing their eyelashes and if so how successful was it? I know this is not a major problem but I would so love to have lovely dark eyelashes. Thanks Beauties.

I’ve noticed a few posters in this thread mention the Eye of Horus mascara, and I must say I personally love it and have had zero bad reactions. Although everyone is different and my eyes probably aren’t as sensitive as the original poster’s as I tolerate most mascaras. EOH say their mascaras are non-irritating and made with gentle ingredients, and they fairly recently released a new mascara called the bio mascara or something along those lines which I think may be even better than the original (though I haven’t yet tried it).

I know this is old but I saw someone say try extensions. I’d never recommend them to someone who reacts to so many mascaras as you’d probably find them uncomfortably and likely react to the glue. I can wear mascara but after a few months of extensions I suddenly had a reaction on a weekend and couldn’t get them removed so picked them off as the pain was unbearable. I had no lashes for weeks. I’d just tint them.

I have the same issue so wear virtually no eye make up as I find eyeshadow often gives me a rash and I don’t like to wear a lot of mascara as I find it irritating. I’ve used Poni The White Knight Mascara and it’s amazing. I don’t have any irritation using this.

  • I know exactly how you feel, as this is the same with me.

In the last year I have started getting my lashes tinted. I love the way they look and get about three weeks from this, which is awesome.

In the very limited special occasions that I have worn mascara, I have used Maybelline Waterproof Mascara (pink bottle, green lid?). I do not get irritated by this product and it always does the job.

    I hope this helps!

I know that Lucie Lavelle has an amazing range of all natural makeup that is perfect for sensitive skin. I use their mineral foundation myself. Their Mineral Mascara is also great for sensitive skin and is very affordable.

Have you isolated it to mascara? I.e. have you used mascara with absolutely nothing else to make sure it is that you are reacting to and not eyeliner or other products?

Yes I have tried testing what was causing my eyes to water and end up cracked and red and bad luck for me it was definitely the mascara. So far no matter how “sensitive” they claim to be I am still looking for one that does work because I really miss it.

Have you tried a tubular mascara? The formula is very different to normal mascara, I’ve heard that they are good for people that have sensitive skin.

What about the Mirenesse mascara? it washes straight off with water and didn’t bother my sensitive eyes at all.

I have very sensitive eyes too and use Almay’s mascaras as they are hypo allergenic and remove easily. Lancome Hypnose is also a great one to try

thats true, for example lots of eyeliners irritate my eyes so bad! eye of horus and smiink make great ones though.
