Should I use a Recuitment Agency

Hi all, someone suggested that as a solo beauty therapist I should have an agency recruit to cover my small business while I take a much needed holiday. They suggested getting someone who doesn’t live anywhere near my business. Are there specialist Beauty Therapy Recruiters that I could trust. Any feedback would be great. Thanks everyone.

your not in a position/wanting to expand?
Bringing on a part-time/casual BT could be beneficial, someone your customers can come to know and like, not only allowing you to have a holiday, but also cover if you got sick etc

I see a solo BT, she usually gives a bit of notice if she is going to be away etc and I schedule my appointments to suit, If she got in a temp, I’d probably still wait until she returned anyway.

I’d probably suggest closing down for that period of time. Would it be worth it things went wrong and it ended up costing you more than it would if you just closed for the period of time?

I’m with Linda, I don’t know anything about running a business, but as a consumer I would prefer to go to the person that I’m used to, I’m sure your customers would be understanding, we all need holidays!

If there’s a recruitment agency that places ‘temporary’ hairdressers or similar, they’d be a good place to enquire re a beautician. A temp will have had all the relevant screening & background done by the agency. They’ll also pay the temp, and you’re invoiced by them a higher amount so they make $$.

Maybe as a solo therapist it’d be easier & cheaper for you to have the business temporarily close, your customers will be more than understanding you’re away for a break

Recruitment agencies usually charge large head hunter fees. Maybe just advertise in the paper for a short term contract, or possibly a new beauty graduate? I guess it depends on how long you are going away for Vs how experienced a person you can find. It may be worth just closing for the amount of time you are away.
