Your experience with rose hip oil?

I am currently using Gamma Hydroxy from Skin Doctors for my acne scarring but not sure is something else might have more of an affect.

The acne hasn’t stopped but the scarring is mildly better.

I have heard a lot about rose hip but oil on my face usually equals more breakouts. Has anyone had really good experiences with the removal of scarring?

If so which brand do you recommend?

I’ve religiously used trilogy rosehip oil+ for a couple of years now and it has helped with my acne scarring immensely. Other oils help but personally I always go back to rosehip

So far i have been using sukin for 3 weeks and i adore it! My skin is baby soft and i actually think my acne has slowed down a bit. I can only use it at night because it is too oily to wear in the day but that is not bad at all 🙂

I always have a RHO in my handbag for which I was very grateful when I went into hospital the other week. I could emulsify a little to clean my face with a washcloth and then some more for moisture. I also have dropped into a bath, used on irritated skin on my body and in a blend with Jojoba and Argan oils.
I have used Rosehip Oil for 20 years, many brands. My favourite of the various rosehip oils is A’Kin. The best cream based on RHO that I have used is from More than Skin Deep which I used to buy at Salamanca Market in Hobart. They are a fabulous brand but I have no idea if they are available more widely.

Have you ever used Argan oil alone on your face Pink Hornet? I’m curious to know how it compares with RHO…

I’ve tried MooGoo and I’m currently using Kosmea – The Moogoo was definitely a little more pleasant on the nose.. Kosmea smells like a really strong black/Rose tea.

I have been using RHO for just over a year now and can’t believe I went for so long without using it.. My “oily” skin that I thought I had problems with? It was actually dehydrated so I no longer have tight, oily and sensitive/itchy skin and my pores have seemingly tightened. I’ve just got my Mum to start using the Moogoo RHO as she has the same kind of skin as me – just matured. She’s also blown away as for her whole life she’s thought her skin was oily.

Yes you’re right Trish. All the other rosehip oils (including Trilogy) haven’t smelt that good to me either. The A’kin one has a lovely rosy old fashioned scent – a lot better, IMO than the other brands. I’ll keep an eye out for this new Sukin one from now on too:)

I’ve had anything but good experiences with more than one brand of rosehip oil, including expensive brands – I found either the texture or smell off putting and swore off rosehip oil for me. I do have very sensitive skin and have problems with products reasonably often.

BUT – I was thrilled to be a recipient of the August Discovery Bag. In it was a BioNatural Skin Oil from Sukin which has rosehip oil in it. I LOVE IT!!!! It has several other oils as well as rosehip and it is as good as it gets for my skin.

Congrats on receiving the August Discovery Bag Trish! Sounds as though you really have made a great ‘discovery’. Have you ever used A’kin Rosehip oil? I have recently repurchased it after many years of not using it and am glad I did, due mostly to its lovely fragrance. It has a little Rosemary oil in it too I think.

No, cat lover – I haven’t used A’kin Rosehip Oil – I gave up after trying about 4 different ones, the last being Trilogy which I hated because of the smell. I was pleased I got it in A GWP so hadn’t outlaid the cost. Loved the concept of your skin care routine.
