Why don’t they just listen?

sigh

So I’ve always plucked and shaped my eyebrows myself but after spending months growing them out, I decided to treat myself with visiting the Benefit Brow Bar.

Nothing special, just told her that I’d like to keep them full but more defined with more of an arch (they looked a little too straight). To her credit, she did listen and proceeded to tweeze. When she was done with one brow and showed me the mirror I was shocked. She had thinned the crap out of them. I didn’t know what to say and (like an idiot) just nodded and she proceeded to demolish the other.

I guess I’m ranting today because I’ve had similar experiences at hairdressers where you ask them for something and the result is the opposite. You almost want to scream – why don’t you just LISTEN to me?

Instead it’s like they’ve predetermined what they’re going to do and just go with it.

Note, I’m not attacking those beauticians or hairdressers who do listen, just those ignorant ones.

My advice beauties, if you can do your eyebrows well, stick to your gut and do it at home. If you do get them done, repeat over and over what you want and ask to see what they’re doing before they’re done.

These experiences frighten me, I am very over protective of my brows. I got them done 3 weeks ago at the benefit brow counter in Chermside Myer the girl did an awesome job, the only fault was when I said “I don’t like how long they are” she said “It suits you though” and I said, it just isn’t me she still left it? But other than that good shape and service.

I’ve always wanted to go to the Myers’ Benefit Browbars but after reading all these unfortunate reviews, I’m now reluctant. I’ve never had them done, and I hope to get them done professionally and I hear Benefit has great products, should I give it a go?

I’ve been planning to go to melb cbd Myer brow bar once I think my brow is thick enough for a pluck…. Now I am worried

Has anyone been to melb cbd store recently?

AH this is the worst! I also hate when i go to get my brows tinted and they comment on how i should or shouldn’t shape my brows. If its our faces they should respect that and provide the service were paying for, not turning us into their ideal doll

I hope you did not pay for what they did to you. You mentioned that they had used a product to add volume which you washed off, so it would appear they realized their mistake. I would demand a refund this is not good enough, why should you pay good money for their terrible mistake.

My story is no where near as horrific as the ones mentioned, but I was still pretty mad at this woman. I went to get my eyebrows waxed, and I never (ever!) get the top of my brows waxed only between and underneath. I always make a point of telling the whoever waxes my brows this fact (I feel very rude for being so demanding but this is an area I don’t want to get messed up). I repeated this to the woman twice, and she still waxed the top, then kind of giggled and said “oh sorry you didn’t want that, I forgot, your the only person who doesn’t get it waxed there”. Couldn’t believe it, luckily they grew back to how I like them and I don’t go back there.

That’s so deliberate! The cheek of her!
I’d have giggled back and said ‘oops! Forgot to bring my purse, guess you won’t be getting paid!’

That is so rude of the beautician! If I were in your shoes & not in shock, then I would’ve probably said the same thing as maydayismyday.

I haven’t had many issues with beauticians (although the lady who used to wax my brows a long time ago had a habit of going to town with the tweezers – now I get them threaded instead), but I did have issues with a former hairdresser of mine. The only time she cut my hair well was when she had a photo to guide her (because I wanted that exact cut etc) – every other time she’d cut it incorrectly. If I said Iwanted shoulder length hair, she’d cut it to about an inch below my shoulders. When I still had a fringe, she cut it to what I thought was right on my eyebrows, but after leaving & having had a gust of wind blow my fringe & hair around, my fringe was right in my eyes! After that I decided to go elsewhere & I’m happy with my current hairdresser – wouldn’t have trusted my other one now that I get my hair coloured as well.

In march 2013 I got my brows done at a really good place and they looked great
but couldn’t afford the $50 maintenance so I started going to the $15 threading place.
first couple of times it was good but then they got thinner. they still weren’t VERY thin and compared to other people they were still quite thick, but they looked wrong on me, as I have a broad face and strong jaw I find thicker brows help balance my face 🙂

So I’ve been growing out my brows for about 4 months and I am so close to getting them back to my natural thickness!

also, after a beauty therapist waxed them way too far apart YEARS ago, the inner eyebrow area has been sparse ever since, but now I’m noticing some tiny little hairs growing and I really hope they’re finally getting thicker and longer in that area.

    I am OBSESSED with eyebrows.

would anyone here ever give advice to a friend about their eyebrows that they’re obviously doing wrong? I have a friend who could have the most beautiful strong brows but she’s been plucking them into a sperm shape.
how would you go about it without offending them?

Maybe you could subtly show her photos of models with thick brows and I ask her opinion on them. If she doesnt like the look of thick brows, you could remark “but it would suit you!” and she might have a rethink 🙂

Reading through all of these posts just makes me so thankful that I don’t have a story to contribute, I would die (or combust into a weeping mess) if anything were to happen to my eyebrows! Thank God for brow powder, pencils and gel!
