When beauty addicts go camping?

Next week I’m lucky to be heading off to Byron Bay for Splendour in the Grass which is amazing but it means 4 nights of something I usually avoid like the plague… camping.

Now on the makeup and hair side I’ve got myself sorted with tinted spf, waterproof mascara and dry shampoo but the problem is my skincare regimen.

My skin is super dry to the point where if I neglect it it gets to the dry, flaky and uncomfortable stage within a couple of days. I have it in control with my strict regime involving face oil, gentle cleansing, exfoliation and hydration hydration hydration.

The problem is it seems a bit ridiculous to be doing all of this while camping… My friend is one of those lucky souls who have perfect skin without doing a thing about it so I’d be embarrassed to role out my nightly routine which takes about 20 minutes each night.

When you travel/camp do you scale back the skincare routine or do you take it all with you? If I do the latter my toiletries will take up the same amount of space as my clothes!

Would love your advice beauties!

I love camping! I still make sure my skin is taken care of, but I simplify it.

Usually I will remove make up with a cleansing balm or oil, use Bioderma to remove and residue, and then cleanse with my Foreo, but this is too much for camping. So I skip the make up, and use a gentle exfoliating cleanser under the shower. I still use my usual moisturisers and serums etc. Make sure you’ve got lots of SPF, and never leave home without a lipbalm or three.

    Hair…..tie it up.

Make up……forget it! You’ll be outside, and wearing sunnies, so no one will notice that you aren’t wearing eye makeup. A slick of tinted lip balm is all you need.

Showers…..I can’t go without my shower. I don’t care how long I have to queue for. Take thongs to wear in the shower.

See, I would be completely okay re-wearing a particular pair of shorts. If they got dirty, I’d let them air out, shake them out and wear them again. They’ll just get dirty again.

So sorry, threat wasn’t much help really. My advice: panty liners (help you keep fresh), baby wipes, miceller water, dry shampoo, facial wipes, sunscreen, BB cream, night moisturiser, aloe vera (just in case of accidental sunburn)
deodorant, loads of fresh knickers and clothes.

Wet ones and Facial cleansing wipes.

Baby wipes. They’re a shower in a packet. Use the environmentally friendly ones. Seriously good. And besides, Splendor in the Grass isn’t that long.

If you don’t go for travel size bottles, go buy some Wotnot facial wipes, a bottle of Lush Eau de Roma Water (as a toner that moisturisers and it’s a really nice spray), and a moisturiser. Given you will get those chilly breezes at Byron, take some Vitamin E tabs and a pin, and put it directly on your skin. The oil will do you good, plus they’re teeny tiny x

I’m not a camper but when I travel I use sensitive make up removal wipes to remove make up and sweat then micellar water to cleanse. I use a little tube of eye cream and a little pot of night cream or moisturiser with sunscreen and that’s it. I’ve kept little pots from various skincare bags/beauty parcels that Ive used all the product up for this purpose and I just refill when I need with whatever I’m currently using. Def don’t skip the cleanse and night cream if you’ve got dry skin or prone to breakouts.

I also totally recommend brow and lash tint as misfortune8 suggested if you get a chance so you will look awake and fresh but not have to worry about the hassle of mascara! Baby wipes are also hand for quick freshen ups, emergency loo roll, shower alternative! Lol, I went to a festival many years ago now and the facilities were always jam packed!

Enjoy your trip, I’m sure it will be loads of fun x

I make a point of tinting my eyelashes & epilating thoroughly. Take condoms, you might have more fun than you’re expecting! ;P
