what kind of lip balm works well with lipstick?

basically, i tend to have quite dry lips so i like to apply lipbalm over lipstick to keep my lips moist.

can you recommend me some lip balms i can use over lipstick that doesn’t make them budge?

BURT’S BEES is definitely a good one because it doesn’t leave your lips too oily or wet and it just moistens your lips enough so the lipstick will stay.

AESOP lip balm is really similar and good as it is quite a thick consistency which also means it refreshes your lips without jeopardising the lipstick you are gonna put over the top.

I can highly recommend Nuxe lip balm. I wear it underneath lipstick everyday, as I have to wear lipstick for work. It’s really moisturizing and the formula is quite matte so it doesn’t make the lipstick too shiney. You could also wear it over the lipstick but I prefer under.

Just a note , due to the tint of the balm, there maybe a slight change in the actual colour applied on the lips. That is expected because you are mixing the colours together, so test and experiment .

I will recommend you Revlon Colour balm.

Revlon Colour balm has innovative hybrid which is infused with vibrant pigments to give you gorgeous, luxurious color, while the Triple Moisture Complex of Shea, Mango and Coconut Butter envelops lips in plush comfort leaving them smooth and baby soft.

Tinted balms are a great idea: Revlon Lacquer balm is quite good, Australis Cray for Colour Gloss Sticks are similar, but half the price. Everyone loves Burt’s Bees, their Lip Shimmers are great.

If you’re putting balm on OVER lipstick, you’re doing exactly what the two-step long-lasting lippies do. My fave is Rimmel Provocalips, but there’s MNY 24hr Superstay, L’Oréal Infallibles, Max Factor Lipfinity & Covergirl Outlast All-Day too. Most of these also sell the balm refills separately. These balms are meant to go over lipstick, so I’d look into buying just the balm refill.

I don’t usually apply lip balms over lipsticks but the Maybelline Color Whisper lipsticks are basically a tinted balm and are super moisturising and may be a good alternative for you although they’re quite sheer.

For matte lipsticks, the Nuxe lip balm is good as it is matte too.

First off any lip balm by definition is going to cause your lipstick to degrade. Lip balms are a combination of waxes and oils – the exact things that the best makeup removers are made from.

I find a kind of harder lip balm is good to put over like EOS or the original Burts Bees.

But I definitely think it’s better to find a more hydrating lipstick if you can. Something like the chubby sticks or similar that are a lip balm with colour could be a good idea.

Lolly, Catch 22 .I have dry lips too and I found out lip balms causes lippies to slide off. I was lucky to get some Clinique chubby stick on sale so I use that under the lipsticks and I also have Revlon Colour balm which helps colour stay longer and not too drying for me . The lipsticks that contains moisturisers don’t last long on my lips so I’d rather use the lip stains . Hence this could be the reason why lipsticks that have less emollients tend to last longer . Keep experimenting is all I can suggest .
