Views on facial peels??
Hi Ladies,
I’ve been looking into trying facial peels, however, I’m slightly nervous to try as I haven’t been able to speak to people who have tried them.
I am 23 so am slightly unsure if they would be a positive or negative thing to do for my skin.
Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂
Thanks xx

Philosophy at-home microdermabrasion peel with vitamin C is one of my holy grail products. I tried it at David Jones beauty facial once, and I’ve been hooked since. I use it every week, it only takes under 10 minutes; my skin has never been this smooth. Even when I get ‘naughty’ and forgotten about removing my makeup a few times a week, my skin still glow and never breakout! I highly recommend this at-home peel.

I had a professional peel on Monday.
My skin is fairly good, I did notice however my complexion generally felt brighter and smoother.I’d consider getting another one probably more if I had somewhere to go lol

I had a peel 18months ago mainly because I was suffering from slight mila and clogged pores under the skin. I tried retinol and others with no relief…
I only needed one and it worked wonders. Do ur research and find someone who gets to know you better. I had a aha/ beta peel.
I’ve also tried microderbrasion lots and lots. It worked great for a clean out but now I’m older I don’t need it much… Peels are better.
I have used Dr lewinns glycolic peel in the past and its really great 15% glycolic. It’s perfect for a once a fortnight treatment.. Also u could use a glycolic wash/ bha toner for same results. Be careful though. -

I have tried this manuka honey facial peel from Organi and it feels amazing. It’s like a chemical exfoliator where you gently massage the product onto your skin and you see all these dead skin cells coming off. It doesn’t irritate my skin at all even though I have super sensitive skin but my pores don’t really look smaller after using it. My face does however feel smoother afterwards so that’s a plus. The other downside is the hefty price tag of $60 a bottle.

I am 46 and recently had my first peel two weeks ago. My skin concerns are mainly pigmentation issues, a result of sun baking and days spent outdoors without sunscreen in my youth 🙁
The peel I had was the Dermalogica Biosurface peel and I highly recommend it. If you want a peel without any /minimal down time, this is worth considering. The therapist used a total of 5 layers of acid peel and she monitors the response of your skin after applying each layer to ensure that you don’t have any residual redness or severe irritation.
I found the peel quite comfortable, there was minimal tingling and I didn’t feel any heat although my cheeks did look a bit flushed after the treatment. So depending how your skin reacts, you may only have three layers of peel, depending on your tolerance. After the treatment, your skin feels very soft and for the first few days, it has a lovely radiance and glow. By about day 3-4 you may experience some peeling, especially around my nose and forehead , but only minimal. You are given a take home kit of Dermalogica products to gently cleanse, hydrate, exfoliate your skin and some sunscreen. Applying sunscreen and avoidance to direct sun light is so important the follow days and weeks because you don’t want to undo all the good work of the peel.
Well, it’s two weeks post peel today and I am really happy. My skin looks brighter and fresher, I saw my sister today and she commented how lovely my skin looks 🙂
I think I would continue with a course of peels over a period of a few months if finances allowed.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions, more than happy to answer 🙂 -

I haven’t had one yet (I am 24) but I have been told my a few of my girlfriends to get one. I have seen the results and their skin looked amazing afterwards. If you have scarring microdermabrasion is the way to go. If you have spots, pore issues then get the peel.

I’m 22 and had my first peel last week and will go back every couple of weeks til I don’t need any more. I’ve always thought my skin was red due to scarring and acne but the lady told me it was actually mostly from sun damage when I was younger(:O), and that a peel would help with this and my large pores and oiliness. My sister and friend who are 22 and 25 got the same peel and they have fairly normal skin. For them it left their skin soft, clean and clearer and for me it left my skin balanced and cleared up some redness. That was just my first one and I cannot wait for my next.
The peel was really relaxing and left my skin really soft and “clean” feeling afterwards, I didn’t notice a difference in the appearance straight away but has since had less redness.
There are so many different types of peels and I definitely think they are a positive for all skin types and ages after hearing about what they actually do from the beauty therapist. There are so many clinics that offer skin peels at an affordable price and I know a few clinics (if you’re in Sydney) that are offering specials at the moment. It doesn’t hurt to go in and ask them as they will tell you what treatment would be best for your skin type.Goodluck 🙂
