Trimming “the bits”

Hey guys.

X rated topic but still a beauty dilemma. I want to give up waxing for a while (cost saving) and trim the lady parts instead. I can wax my bikini myself with no issues but I’m wondering how short to trim to avoid the itch.

I have an electric trimmer with various settings and really don’t mind the look of it neat and tidy but im still working out the best length to skip the itching.

Any suggestions are great!

I dont like electric razors as i like all the hair gone and find it really itchy after using.I like a razor or hair removal cream is good also with little itch.

I would LOVE to get my bits lasered. Come to think of it, I would like to have all body hair lasered, except my eyebrows, eyelashes and hair on my head.
If I shave my ‘bits’ I end up with ingrown hairs. Ouch! Waxing is double ouch. And epilating is just freaking painful. Why do we need these ‘bits’ anyway?

Everything you said is sooo accurate! Glad I’m not alone hehehe.

Those of you thinking about laser hair removal, I’m in Sydney & I went to a great place in Parramatta. They’ve got specials, if you consider the long term savings you’ll make, it’s worth it.
I went to Ywax. Check out their website, just add .com.au to their name.

To the OP, and subsequent posters mentioning laser… I was very resistant to laser, and had even told my beautician that I was happy to pay for waxing for the rest of my life. She managed to convince me to try laser – how stupid I was to hesitate! I think waxing brazilian is much more painful than laser, and the results are so good! I admit, I have olive skin and dark hair, so the time of my results will be more than my caucasian peers, but it’s so worth it! I’ve had three treatments, and the only hair I have remaining is a small amount on my bikini line. I haven’t had underarm hair in over 12 months, and I’m now working on decreasing my upper lip waxing regime.
Find a great laser beauty therapist, and go for it, I say!

I agree, I don’t find the laser painful at all. Someone had told me it felt like being stung by a rubber band so I went into my first appointment quite fearful. It was pleasantly surprised to find it not painful at all.

I can’t stand body hair and shave all mine. I don’t have any issues with it as long as I shave in the right direction of hair growth (depends on body part). Waxing/epilating always gave me severe ingrown hairs and I like the super-smooth feel shaving leaves. It’s so damn annoying though especially during summer, I have to shave my legs every 2nd day! =/ Also considering laser, though the cost has prevented me from doing it. I also heard on tv from a technician who fixes salon laser machines for a living, that many salons use different types of lasers, and the results depend on the quality of the laser they use. Apparently a lot of dodgy salons who do ‘cheap laser’ buy their machines from China, have cheap parts in them, or don’t clean their machines properly resulting in very poor results. Those ‘at-home laser’ devices are also bs.

I’ve been doing research on the different types of laser machines available, I have dark skin and dark hair so it’s hard to find one that works on my skin type.

Also it’s important to note the difference between IPL and laser when doing your research.

I shave my legs (when I can be bothered lol) but I have lasered my underarms, brazilian (completely) and my arms. Although it’s an expensive cost initially, it’s seriously cheaper in the long run and you don’t have to be in the salons every few weeks for the rest of your life!!
There are a heap of good salons in Brisbane where I live that always have specials on laser, so if you do your research you can find a great salon and save lots of $$$ 🙂

I also tried waxing and ended up with bumps and bleeding and pain, it was awful. My sis wax’s and then applies baby powder straight after as well as an ice pack, this works for her but not for me 🙁 i shave, a pain to do it every darn day but its quick and painless.

Shaved once, the itchy regrowth was HORRENDOUS! It was so itchy I literally had to dash to the toilet every 5 minutes just to scratch. Either that or sneak in a quick scratch when no one was looking hahaha. Those were terrible times.

*Caitlin*, how about using one of those scissors designed for nose trimming? that way you can get a bit closer to the skin and there’s no itchiness involved!

Wow you must have shaved with a blunt razor or the hair was too long.
It shouldn’t be that horrendous at all! I don’t have any problems doing it!

    You’re lucky Imi!
It could have been the razor actually…but I’m too traumatized to try again hahaha.

To be honest, it happens to be as well when I use razor. I have tried multiple times with different razors. But I always get itchy regrowth. Waxing always worked better for me.
