The Candle Lovers Thread

I love candles and I love shopping for candles !

My favorite scent is caramel and vanilla (yum) and I remember before I had my bubs I was paying up to $100 for a candle but now I just can’t justify myself doing that any more …

Does any one know any good online websites where they sell scrumptious candles for maybe not not as expensive!

I know brands like Ecoya and MOR which are fantastic!

My favourite candle is the pumpkin waffle one from Treasury of Candles. They are a bit more expensive but they do have ring reveals where each ring in the candle is worth at least $25 and up to a lot more.

Glasshouse have brought out 2 more limited edition candles:

Grandma’s Punch (Pomegranate & Strawberries – smells pretty good. So far only Peter Alexander has it in store, I haven’t seen it in David Jones yet.)

There’s also one called Melbourne, which I’ve only seen in David Jones so far. That particular scent is “coffee flower” & it’ll remind you of a certain fragrance when you sniff it. (Hint: It’s a YSL scent.)

I also have another candle recommendation to make – Hart & Co’s candles. They’re a company I discovered whilst in Melbourne a few months back & I have to tell you their candles not only burn evenly, but give off a great scent throw. I have their Black Raspberry & Vanilla (which I’ve nearly finished) + their Musk Sticks candle (which I’ve begun burning & seriously, it smells like the real deal) & haven’t had issues with either. They have a whole range of other scents, so if none of those take your fancy you’ll find another. You can find them at select shopping centres around Melbourne, but you can also get them online too: https://hartco.com.au/collections/double-wick-jar (large size) https://hartco.com.au/collections/small-soy-candles (small size)

Thank God for this forum. Always wondered which were good candle brands. I recently bought some candles from bath n body works. Disappointed with the throw. Anyone else? Also if anyone has used their candles , if you could compare it with glasshouse; i’d be very grateful.

So Glasshouse fans, they have a new scent out called Tahiti, which is a combination of tiare flower & coconut. I took a sniff out it yesterday in David Jones & tbh, it’s quite mild. I can’t pick up any tiare flower, just coconut. I love the colour of the box (it’s a deep-ish aqua), but Peter Alexander have it in a completely different coloured box (theirs is black with pictures of hula girls & pineapples on it). Peter Alexander are saying this is limited edition, but that might only be for their stores.

I haven’t seen anything about it on the Glasshouse website yet, but they’re available on both the DJ’s & PA websites (albeit at different prices):

    Peter Alexander

    Another bump!

As all candle lovers would know, Ecoya do limited edition candles at this time of year. This year’s scents are Fresh Pine, Summer Spritz (it’s meant to smell like a “bitter orange summer cocktail”, but I can only detect lavender in it) and…..AND…..Dark Chocolate, Meringue & Raspberry. Oh lordy yes, you better believe me when I say it smells frickin’ awesome!! (I sniffed it yesterday in David Jones.) If you are like me & were disappointed by the re-release of Peter Alexander’s Chocolate Brownie candle last Easter, then I reckon this Ecoya one would be better. It smells pretty much like that, except more cocoa-y if that makes sense. I’m totally getting me a big size before Xmas…and maybe another one as a back-up so I can sniff this delicious scent right into the depths of 2018 as well.

The Xmas range is $14.95 for a small candle & $44.95 for the big jars (which I’ve linked to). I think the bigger size is worth it as the smaller size is tiny IMO.

Bumping this thread to mention a new-ish candle brand that I picked up from recently. They’re called Napali & they’re in a few homewares stores throughout Sydney like Habitania. They have 2 different ranges – Napali Beach (which are all named after beachy locations) & Napali Chic – with some really great scents.

Their candles are soy & coconut wax based, so you don’t have to worry about them being toxic + most of their candles smell absolutely divine. I want every single one from the Beach range, but my particular favourite is Fresh Watermelon & Cucumber which I’m eyeing off next. I’ve bought Raspberry Sorbet + Vanilla, as well as Pink Grapefruit & Strawberry from the Chic range & I can’t wait to burn them. They’re not cheap though – around the same price as someone like Circa Home or even Palm Beach, depending on which size you want (small or large).

You can check them out here, although you can’t purchase direct from them: https://www.napali.com.au/
