so many choices in Mineral makeup

hi all,

has anyone tried the brand Mineral Obsession?

Im looking for a new mineral foundation powder and their range looks pretty comprehensive. I;ve tried Bare escentuals and Nude but havent had any luck with them. Had irritations with Bare escentuals and the Nude mineral foundations made me break out.

The Mineral Obsession range seems to have less irritants and is organic. They;re also made in Australia where as Nude is made overseas…

thanks 🙂

No, never heard of Mineral Obsessions. In fact never heard of mineral makeup but now I understand having read webmd.com/beauty/makeup/whats-up-with-mineral-makeup? the Pros and Cons. Thank you ladies for introducing me to mineral makeup. Is Sheer Cover a mineral makeup???

I use Mary Kay’s Mineral powder because I am highly sensitive to make-up & skin care products, this one does not affect me as much as other brands. I love that I can put it on in layers as well depending on how flushed my skin is on the day (got to love menopause) & once it settles it looks great. My skin gives a slight tickle when I first apply it which I think is because my skin is very dry & sensitive but it settles down after a few minutes & leaves no lasting irritation or blemishes.
I was introduced to it when I worked for a MK consultant & was not really into the modern mineral products because I had tried a few different brands where my skin had reacted badly to them, as in burning sensation or extreme itching. MK did not irritate my skin so I now use all their mineral products, I get mine usually off EBay these days so it is not overly expensive & lasts for a long time.
If you do not want outlay money on facial products that may not work for you then drop into a Priceline Chemist & ask the girls if you can try a few different brands in store, they are usually pretty accommodating about it. You can use the inner part of yr forearm for testing instead of yr face if you wish as it is very similar in sensitivity as yr face is. Just use a moist hand wipe to clean it off afterwards.
The most important part of using Mineral Powder is to make sure you have a good skin care routine at the end of the day, it will help reduce any blemishes starting because it is too easy to forget you have it on. I know if I don’t wash it off my skin feels like paper the nest day & I will get pimples for being so lazy – yes at 52 years old I still get them!

I really loved the Momma powder. I think you can’t beat it for the price it is.

I’m a big fan of Physicians Formula, but they’re made in US. I’ve been thinking about trying MOMMA because they’re Aussie. My skin’s not sensitive though. Try a few samples or testers before you buy anything.

I have tried MOMMA as part of BH’s discovery bag trial last year. I had high hopes for it but was a little disappointed. It’s OK if you only need very light coverage, if you need a bit more coverage and try to apply more, it would start to look a bit cakey and feel heavy. Shine control is so-so. I’m using Innoxa mineral foundation, which isn’t bad. Both Innoxa and MOMMA didn’t break me out (and I have very sensitive skin)

I’m agreeing with stackcats, missfortune8. The MOMMA isn’t nearly as price effective as it first appears because the pots are so small. I loved the colour I got and liked the powder but didn’t love it, long term. Having said that, I’m still not totally happy with anything else – right now I’ve combined Nude by Nature with Inika and have something I really like with a good colour match!! I do have super sensitive skin.

I’ve never tried Mineral Obsession, but I have tried INIKA (or Inika, whichever you prefer) & whilst it’s pricey (even though they’re Australian), I’m glad they have a foundation pale enough for my very fair-fair cool-toned skin. It also doesn’t contain nasties, unlike some other brands coughBare Minerals/cough That said, I am on the hunt for another brand to use as I’m a bit over it. Might try Alima Pure next.

Forgot to mention that I have very sensitive, slightly combination skin.

I have been using Prestige for years, mostly because the #2 light matches my skin tone exactly and it doesn’t make me break out. I have been thinking of changing but I’m not sure what to try… and I’m scared my sensitive acne prone skin won’t like it!

The brand asap has a really nice range of mineral makeup. Their products are made in Australia, use environmentally friendly ingredients & are free of animal testing. I have sensitive skin and am allergy prone but haven’t had any problems so far.
