Skin care routine for aging AND oily skin

I am in the middle of a weird time for my skin:
I have oily skin so battle with blemishes all the time – mostly in the T-zone. But now that I am close to 30 years old I am now concerned about age-prevention and reducing those fine lines that are appearing (forehead and laugh lines).
I’ve read through a lot of online articles but a lot of products are either blemish/oil control OR anti-aging/age-prevention.
What would be the best daily/weekly skin care routine for someone with my concerns? And any brand suggestions would be most welcome. 🙂

I went through exactly the same thing! And strangely enough, the thing that turns my skin around was adding more moisture, and even some oil. Felt very weird after buying oil-free and lightweight skincare for so long, but I think it definitely does help balance oil production – and is crucial for anti-aging! Ultraceuticals Ultra Hydrating Lotion was the first product that helped me embrace moisturiser – and I was thought a trick to apply a really light layer, then come back and apply another layer after 30 min or so. I also like adding a few drops of skin oil – rosehip is particularly good – to my moisturiser at night. If you’re looking for supermarket products, try the Swisse rosehip moisturiser, and Olay’s fragrance free serum – these both have brilliant formulations.

At Little Lady Health the are natural remedies such as Tomato juice which is good for oily skin, lemon juice removes scars and repairs skin damage and my favorite a honey face mask also reduces wrinkles and opens up pores. Give it a try!

I would use a oil control lotion on your t-zone…and for all the rest Trilogy Rosehip oil (around eyes, cheeks forehead, lines around the mouth. It a great anti ageing product, plumps out fine lines and wrinkles and gives you glowing skin.

I’ve been using Bioré for over a decade. When I first started (in my 30s), I saw a change in my skin: the ubiquitous blackheads across my nose area shrunk & vanished. Nothing has ever made a visible difference, until I tried Bioré. I’m 48 now & I still love it. I still get the occasional blemish, usually just when I’m premenstrual, so I’ll use Clearasil topical cream.
I’ve just started using jojoba too. After cleansing & toning, morning & night (I worked up gradually) I apply just a few drops to face & neck. I had breakouts when I first started, but that was due to the shakeup in my routine. I persevered because my skin felt so amazingly soft & my complexion looked ‘glowing’. I bought the jojoba oil from a health food shop.
    Good luck Clare126!

You could always layer different products depending what you think is more important, or choose to just apply blemish/oil-control products on your T-zone and anti-ageing for the rest of the face with a spot treatment for those blemishes that aren’t on your T-zone. It’s a tad complicated but hey, it should be worth it 🙂
