I would recommend dry body brushing morning and night if you can. It’s super easy to do and shouldn’t take too long before those ingrowns pop out and the skin starts to heal. I found this worked on my bikini line after shaving (definitely a no-no for me!) and of course remember to moisturise after shaving. I have since started on laser hair removal and have sorted out those ingrowns almost permanently.

I swear on antiperspirant deodorant. It sounds crazy, but it works! Get on for sensitive skin, and try roll on, not spray because that can cause stings.

I have tried a few ingrown hair reducing options. Bump eraser, ingro go and changed from shaving to waxing, I also had IPL on my legs and found that increase the amount of ingrown hairs that I got. I have tried Ingro Stopper and that seems to work for me… Ingrown hairs are the worst! Good luck

I have tried almost every treatment in the form of exfoliate , creams and rubs. come work for a while but eventually the problem return. I intend to try Ingro Stopper to see what result I get will post it here too. http://www.squidoo.com/razor-bumps-and-ingrown-hairs

While these ingrown serums etc work wonders (I have a super cheap and effective supermarket Ingrown Solution) they will not work properly if you fail to exfoliate regularly. I prefer to exfoliate with a chemical exfoliator (such as glycolic or lactic acid) which is my best defense for avoiding the dreaded itchy, red rash, razor bumps and ingrown hairs that I always experience, thereafter shaving my legs.

These symptoms occur because hair follicles become clogged thanks to trapped dirt, oils, debris, bacteria and dead cells. When the shaven hair tries to grow back, it gets obstructed by these blocked hair follicles, and can wind up getting infected, hence these side effects arise.

However, I can vouch that with the regular use of an exfoliating body wash that sloughs away dead cells, clearing and opening the pores and hair follicles, so they remain unrestricted, then allows the regrowth to come through easily, avoiding any irritation.

You need to stick with it though, keep it up regularly and you will find that after a while you will no longer experience the ingrowns. You can team the exfoliating with the various ingrown serums available to provide even more effective protection against ingrowns. Lastly, ingrown are generally associated with shaving and are also a result of incorrect shaving. Its imperative that you stick with the most suitable shaving technique for your skin type. Plenty of tips available online for that though 🙂 Good luck.

    Hi Lady Lala
I was a beauty therapist. I am aslo an aromatherapist. This is an aromatherapy mixture.
100 ml of any of these cold pressed oils, sunflower, olive, grapeseed, jojoba or any you like. To this add, the oil of four capsules of VitE, essential oil of Lavender (10 drops) Tea tree(5 drops). shake well before use.
After shaving or waxing, massage this oil in the area in a DOWNWARD MOTION towards the ankles(this is VERY IMPORTANT as the hair follicles will have been forced into an opposite growth position when you have or wax..) Use daily in between epilation to keep the skin supple so the follicles will regain natural growth pattern. Lavender oil will calm the area, Tea tree will stop bacterial growth (bumps) around the follicle and the VitE keeps the mixture fresh. Hope this helps. Jan

i get ingrown hairs EVERYWHERE!!!! i actually just got a wax yesterday and my waxing lady showed me some products that could help. i ended up buying something called bump eraser

    http://www.caronlab.com.au/main.php?id=5987

i got the concentrated serum as its a spray. obviously i wont know if it completely works until the hair starts growing back but i have some really nasty painful ones at the moment that are very open (i tend to pick at them =( ) and it stung like all hell well i first put it on but within seconds the pain was gone and the redness reduced.

it also dries it up. i have the constant trouble with putting long sox or full brief undies on and because i put these on after having a shower the skin is still wet/soft and dries to the material so when i take it off it rips the scab and makes it worse. this dries and soothes the skin immediately

so far so good at the very least it will help with the pain plus i bought mine for only $20
